iOS 26 Wallet App: Everything New You Need to Know
With iOS 26, Apple has introduced a digital passport, AI-powered order tracking, smarter boarding passes, and more in the Wallet app. Explore the key features here.
Apple’s Wallet app has long been the go-to destination for storing cards, tickets, and passes. With iOS 26, it’s receiving a significant overhaul. Announced at WWDC 2025, the Wallet app now integrates Apple Intelligence and adds powerful new features to enhance convenience, security, and functionality. Here’s a complete breakdown of what’s changed in the Wallet app in iOS 26.
One of the biggest updates is the ability to create a digital ID in Wallet using your U.S. passport. This feature allows you to verify your identity instantly during domestic air travel, age-restricted purchases, or other scenarios requiring identification.
How it works: You simply take a photo of your physical passport using your iPhone. Apple’s secure system verifies it with issuing authorities. Once approved, your digital passport is encrypted and stored locally, accessible only via Face ID or Touch ID.
Where you can use it: At TSA checkpoints, government offices, or businesses that support digital IDs, just tap your iPhone against an NFC reader to verify your identity—no paper documents required.
Privacy-first: Apple only shares the necessary information, such as your name or age, while keeping all other data private. However, this isn’t a replacement for your physical passport—you can’t use it for international travel or border crossings.
Apple expands its ID verification capability beyond apps to web browsers with “Verify with Wallet on the Web.” Now, you can use your digital ID to confirm your age or identity on participating websites.
How it works: When a website requests verification (e.g., for renting a car or buying alcohol), scan a QR code using your iPhone and authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID. The site only collects essential details, such as your age or name.
Compatible platforms: It works in Safari 26 and any browser supporting the W3C Digital Credentials API and FIDO CTAP protocol.
Initial partners include: Chime, Turo, Uber Eats, U.S. Bank, Arizona MVD, and Georgia DDS.
3. AI-Powered Package Tracking
Package tracking just got smarter. Powered by Apple Intelligence, the Wallet app now automatically tracks deliveries—even those not made via Apple Pay.
How it works: The Wallet app uses on-device Apple Intelligence to scan your Mail app for emails from merchants or delivery carriers (such as USPS, FedEx, or UPS) and automatically extracts the tracking numbers. You can find real-time updates on your package’s status by tapping the three-dot button in the app and selecting Orders.
No Apple Pay required: Unlike the previous version, which only tracked purchases made with Apple Pay, this feature works for any order with a tracking number included in your email, regardless of the payment method used.
How to enable it:
Go to the Settings app on your iPhone.
Tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
Select Order Tracking and toggle OnOrders Found in Mail.
This eliminates the need for multiple tracking apps or visiting carrier websites. You get a centralized, secure hub for monitoring all your packages, with notifications for delivery updates.
4. Save Full Credit Card Details
iOS 26 lets you save and view complete credit card details securely within the Wallet app—card number, expiration, and CVV included.
How it works: When you add a credit or debit card to Wallet, you can securely store its full details, including the card number, expiration date, and CVV code. To view these details, simply tap the card in Wallet and authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID.
How to add the details:
Select a card inside the Wallet.
Tap the info icon in the top-right corner.
Now, select Add Physical Card Information and fill in the details.
These details are encrypted and stored in the iCloud Keychain. According to Apple, “They are visible only to you and are not used for Apple Pay transactions.”
This feature is ideal for situations where Apple Pay isn’t accepted, such as on smaller online stores or when making phone-based payments. Instead of digging out your physical card, you can access all the necessary info right in Wallet.
5. Smarter Boarding Passes and Travel Tools
The Wallet app now makes air travel smoother with several smart enhancements.
Live Activities: When you add a boarding pass to Wallet, your gate information, departure and arrival times, and boarding status update in real-time. You will also see your flight status on Dynamic Island without needing to open any app. You may share your flight’s Live Activity with family or friends.
Airport Maps: The added boarding pass will feature an embedded map showing your location and the best route to your gate. The terminal map also indicates the locations of restrooms, lounges, and shops.
Luggage Tracking with Find My: If you’ve attached an AirTag to your luggage, Wallet adds a shortcut to the Find My app. This lets you easily view your bag’s last known location and report it as lost directly from your boarding pass.
One-Tap Access to Airline Services: The Wallet app enables you to quickly access seat upgrades, standby lists, and other airline services directly from your boarding pass. It will also provide contextual suggestions based on your flight and airport amenities.
6. Apple Pay In‑Store: Installments and Rewards
In select regions, Apple Pay now supports installment payments and rewards redemption during in-store purchases.
Installments (Apple Pay Later): You can choose to pay off your purchase over time in fixed payments rather than all at once. Eligible providers include Affirm, Afterpay/Cash App, Klarna, Synchrony, and U.S. Bank in the U.S., as well as Klarna in the UK and Canada (and Monzo in the UK).
Rewards (Redeem points, miles, or cashback): See how many reward points or cashback you have, and apply them directly to your purchase at checkout. Initially supported in the U.S. by Synchrony and U.S. Bank
All info appears transparently on the payment sheet—no need for additional apps.
Now, no more surprise ads from what should be a financial-focused app.
8. More Digital Car Keys in Wallet
Apple is expanding car key support to 13 new automakers in iOS 26. These keys utilize NFC and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology to enable you to unlock, start, and share your car—all from your Wallet.
Newly supported brands:
Acura
Cadillac
Chevrolet
GMC
Porsche
Rivian
Smart
Lucid
Tata
Hongqi
Voyah
Chery
WEY
More cars. More convenience. One tap.
What’s Next for Wallet?
Apple’s iOS 26 update makes the Wallet app smarter, more secure, and incredibly useful. But this isn’t the end.
In future updates, we may see:
Support for international IDs
Deeper smart home integrations (like door unlocking)

If you’re running iOS 26, now’s the time to open the Wallet app and explore. These features are rolling out gradually, so keep an eye out for updates.
