For years, a smartphone screen has been a plain monitor displaying caller’s number. And then Flash happened. This newly released app certainly changes a user experience of making and receiving calls. The full name of this app is Flash: Send Pics in Caller ID. As this name suggests, you can send your picture in caller ID. So the receiver gets to see your photo or pic as caller ID and quickly identifies the caller.
But that is not enough! Flash has more to offer. Your communication is spiced up with stickers, captions, and filters. Though there were many apps available for iPhones to show the photo as caller ID, Flash has gone extra miles by adding a new dimension of personalization.
Flash iPhone App: Send Your Photo As Caller ID on iPhone
Flash app is available in some select countries; hence, you need to check the availability of this app on your iOS App Store. However, you can always change the App Store country/region on your device to use this fantastic app.
The interface of this app is a bit complicated; you need to understand the app thoroughly before you use it. The very first condition of using this app is you have to invite your contacts to download Flash on their iPhones or Android phones. You can only show your photo as caller ID if your contact is also using Flash on his/her smartphone. This can be irritating as many users may not like the idea of using Flash on their devices.
Step #1. First off, download Flash app on your iPhone.
Five explanatory slides will run on your phone, and when you tap on Sign Up, you will be prompted to allow Flash to send notifications.
Step #2. Next, you will be prompted to sign in with your mobile number.
Then, a four-digit verification code will be sent to you; enter that code and you are good to go.
Step #3. Enter your name and gender, and then Start Flashing!
Before you go and start flashing, there comes a screen that says, Tap here to get your first Flash call now.
When you tap on that down arrow, your mobile rings up, and upon tapping the Accept button, a voiceover describes everything about the Flash app.
You can listen to this description or hang up the call and continue.
As mentioned above, Flash would ask you permission to access your Photos, Contacts, Microphone, and Camera. Simply tap on OK and finish the procedure.
Step #4. Now comes the main part of this app. You need to select your photo, which will be shown as Caller ID to your contacts on their mobile phone screens. You can now see your selected photo on the upper part of the screen. Also, see that three buttons on the right side of your photo/image.
These buttons help you edit your photo. Tap on each button and it will explain what it can do for you.
Step #5. Once you edit the image, tap on tick mark from the upper right corner.
This will bring up a set of more buttons to edit your photo. The options include: Transform, Filter, Adjust, Sticker, Text, Text Design, Overlay, Frame, Brush, Focus, and Magic. You can explore this entire set at your leisure; it will be great fun for you.
Step #6. When you finish the editing of your photo, tap on ‘Flash’ icon from the top right corner of your phone screen.
You will be landed on the Contacts screen. Here you can see four tabs: All, Flash, Groups, and Favorites.
Your name is listed under the Flash tab.
Step #7. Tap on your name; a tick mark appears on the profile photo before your name and then tap on ‘Flash This Image.’
Here, a pop-up box asks you to Flash this image. The image you have selected will be flashed when you place a call.
Step #8. Tap on Yes button and your image/photo is flashed successfully.
Step #9. It is time to place calls using Flash. From the Contacts, select the one, who is using Flash on his/her mobile phone.
Three buttons appear at the bottom: Message, Call, and Flash.
Step #10. Tap on Flash and select the photo which you want to send to your friend’s phone whenever you call them.
Step #11. Now, tap on Call and you can see the mobile number of the contact. Then tap on Call again. The receiver can see your flashed image on his/her phone screen.
Note: When you place a call for the second time, your photo/image will not appear on the receiver’s phone. Every time you make a call, you need to Flash your image. There is a purpose behind this setting; you may not like to make a call with your image every time. This feature can be used only when you urgently need help.
For example, if you have met with an accident and injured yourself, you can make a Flash call to your family or friend to show you need help. By seeing you hurt, the receiver will quickly pick up the call even if s/he in the middle of something important.
One of my friends likes to use this app to show a beautiful gift he buys for his girlfriend, especially when she doesn’t pick up his regular calls.
Why should you use Flash?
Flash is not just another trinket for your smartphone. The app is really useful when you need quick feedback on what to purchase for yourself. When you are in a shop and want to buy something for your loved ones, you can show the options available on the rack. When they see something beautiful on their phone screen, they will take the calls instead of muting or disconnecting your calls.
Flash also offers you safety and security features; you can time your photos to expire automatically after delivery. This not only ensures privacy but also gives you complete control over who can see which image of yours. When someone saves your picture or take a screenshot of your photo, you get a notification.
