Perplexity has released a major update for its Comet app on iPhone and iPad, adding several new usability improvements and interface upgrades.
Comet combines traditional web browsing with AI-powered assistance, allowing users to search the web, interact with AI chatbots, and use webpage context during conversations.
The AI-powered browser first launched on Mac before expanding to iPhone and iPad earlier this year.
Comet for iPhone and iPad now includes eight major upgrades
According to Perplexity, the latest update introduces eight major improvements across the app experience.
The new additions include:
- One-tap phone number actions for calling, FaceTime, messaging, or saving contacts directly from webpages.
- A redesigned iPad sidebar with smoother animations and a cleaner layout.
- Finance Deep Dive analysis now opens inside dedicated browser tabs.
- Search results now remember their previous position when users switch between pages.
- Support for dragging images directly into the AI assistant.
- An adaptive omni-box that changes more smoothly between light and dark websites.
- Fixed behavior for clearing Recently Closed tabs.
- Deleted chat threads now stay permanently deleted.
The company also says the update includes multiple bug fixes and visual refinements.
The update also improves stability and iPhone navigation
Alongside the headline features, Perplexity says it has fixed crashes tied to clearing browsing data and closing tabs.
The company also mentions:
- Sharper and more stable favicons
- Cleaner bottom controls on iPhone
- General interface polish and stability improvements
Perplexity has been steadily expanding Comet’s feature set since bringing the browser from Mac to iOS earlier this year.
The updates show the company continuing to position Comet as more than just a chatbot app by turning it into a full AI-focused browsing experience across Apple devices.
