Meta has launched Muse Image, its first image generation model developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs. The new model is rolling out inside the Meta AI app and will also power creative features across Instagram and WhatsApp.

The launch follows Meta’s shift earlier this year from its Llama AI models to Muse Spark, the company’s newer AI system behind its latest Meta AI features.

    Generate images with text prompts

Muse Image works like other AI image generators, allowing users to create images by entering a text description. The tool uses Muse Spark’s reasoning capabilities to better understand prompts, use additional context from the web when needed, and generate more accurate images.

Since Muse Image is integrated with Meta’s apps, it can also use uploaded photos, tagged friend profiles, and trending information from platforms like Facebook to create more personalized results.

Users can download generated images and share them directly to their feeds, stories, or chats.

New AI tools coming to Meta apps

Meta says Muse Image is already powering new creative features across its apps. Instagram users are getting access to more than 30 new AI-powered effects for Stories, while WhatsApp users in select countries can generate images directly inside chats with Meta AI.

The company plans to expand Muse Image to more countries and additional apps, including Facebook and Messenger. More areas of Instagram and WhatsApp will also gain support in future updates.

Meta also plans to bring Muse Image to advertisers and agencies through Advantage+ creative, allowing businesses to use the model for AI-generated advertising content.

The company confirmed that Muse Video is already in development, suggesting video generation will be the next major addition to Meta’s AI tools after Muse Spark and Muse Image.
