How to get Holofoil sprites in Fortnite: Locations and abilities

Holofoil is the latest Sprite variant to be released in Fortnite. Since its release on July 9, players have been racing to add the new Sprite variant to their collections.

When equipped, a Holofoil Sprite doesn’t directly influence gameplay, but it boosts your chances of obtaining rare Sprite variants, such as gold, gummy, galaxy, and Holofoil, from the chests that you encounter. So getting hold of a Holofoil sprite could be the key to eventually getting more hard-to-find sprites in Fortnite.

There are five types of Holofoil sprites in the game, namely Holofoil Water, Holofoil Fire, Holofoil Ghost, Holofoil King, and Holofoil Striker. You can read the guide below to find the most suitable locations in Fortnite for bagging Holofoil Sprites.

Where to find Holofoil Sprites in Fortnite

1. Heatwave Harbor

Land in Heatwave Harbor and go straight to the demarcated spot. There, you will be surrounded by some trees, under one of which you may find a Sprite Chest. Some players have received a holofoil sprite from this very chest.

2. Soccer pitch

To the south-east of Heatwave Harbor, there is an island with a blue soccer pitch. Go there and dribble the ball into the soccer net to score a goal and unlock a variant of the Soccer Sprite, which can occasionally be a holofoil one.

3. Lake near Zero Point

There is a lake, with some vegetation at its center, exactly to the west of the Zero Point. Near its western shore, there is a tall rock structure that you can zipline and climb on top of. Once you do that and get to the top, you may find two chests, one of which will be a Sprite Chest that can potentially give you a holofoil variant.

4. Sinister Strip

First, head towards the north-east from Sinister Strip, where you will find a bunch of containers lying around. Inside one of these, you may encounter an Epic Vault Keycard, unless someone else has already taken it (in which case you will have to try again in the next match).

Next, head to Sinister Strip and go inside the building under the giant sprite structure. Once there, go to the basement where you will find a vault that can be unlocked using the key card obtained earlier. This vault stores multiple chests, including Sprite Chests, which can produce holofoil sprites.

Alternative ways to get Holofoil Sprites

Take it from another player in the match

This method requires a bit of luck and strong observation skills. In the match lobby, take a good look at the other players and see if they are carrying any Holofoil Sprites. Once you find it, keep the appearance of that player in mind so that you can recognize him when he dives out of the Battle Bus.

As the bus moves across the map, keep tabs on when that player jumps off. Once that happens, dive right after him and follow to the spot where he lands. Chase and eliminate the targeted player to take his holofoil sprite and extract the same.

Index it from your friend in Fortnite

There is also an easy way to get a holofoil sprite from another player. You just have to index it from someone who already has it. This involves temporarily taking the desired sprite, extracting it, and then returning it to the original owner. To look for such players and enter a match with them, you can visit the “sprite-runners-network” channel on Fortnite’s official Discord.

Wrapping up

Since dropping into the game, holofoil sprites have captured the attention of Fortnite players. This can be expected to continue until at least July 16, 2026, when new sprites or sprite variants will be added and replace holofoil sprites as the newest thing in the online title. However, the holofoil versions could still have plenty of players after them, given that they boost the chances of obtaining rarer loot from chests, which importantly includes rarer sprites.
