Fortnite has a long tradition of collaborating with esports professionals and content creators associated with the game. Streamers such as Ninja and competitive gaming prodigies such as Bugha have received their own themed Fortnite cosmetics. The outcome of one such collaboration is the Pollo Sprite that arrived in the ongoing Runners season.
First introduced in mid-July, Pollo Sprite is inspired by the namesake Fortnite pro, who currently boasts a total of four FNCS championships. The Mythic-rarity sprite offers the player and his nearby squad members a slow rate of shield regeneration upon eliminating an opponent.
Below, you can check out the places across Fortnite Island where streamers have previously found the Pollo Sprite. Moreover, you can also learn about alternative ways of obtaining the sprite.
Ways to find the Pollo Sprite in Fortnite
At the onset, the Pollo Sprite was extremely hard to come by because it was exclusively owned by the Fortnite pro it was based on, Pollo. So, in the initial days, you could only grab one by eliminating Pollo and taking the namesake sprite from him.
The fact that it required you to play on the same server as the popular streamer and join during the same time he went online further added to the challenge and to the sprite’s rarity. During that period, it was only in the possession of Pollo and of those players who got it through either eliminating him or from those who had previously eliminated him.
However, since those early days, the Pollo Sprite has started appearing in chests as well, just like other sprites. As a consequence, its ownership has increasingly grown over the past few weeks.
1. Hunting for chests
The most straightforward way of acquiring the Pollo Sprite is through chests scattered across the unranked Battle Royale map. These can be found in a wide spectrum of locations, ranging from unlockable vaults, underground spaces, and random spots in the map. In particular, the Sprite Chests and special variants of the Sprite Chest are likely to provide the Pollo Sprite.
2. Take it from another player
Fortnite is a highly competitive game, so it’s no surprise that sportsmanship is basically non-existent in it. Because of this, it’s fair game for you to simply take the Pollo Sprite from an opponent.
Before the match begins, on Spawn Island, you can check if any player is sporting the Pollo Sprite on his back. If you happen to find one such player, take note of his appearance and try to jump off from the Battle Bus at the same time as him at the start of the match. Next, you simply have to chase the target down and eliminate him in order to take the desired sprite.
3. Index it from a friend
A more friendly version of obtaining the Pollo Sprite from another player involves joining a match with that player with the sole purpose of quickly borrowing the sprite. To find players willing to help, you may visit Fortnite’s official Discord server and check out the “sprite-runners-network” channel.
This method happens over the course of two matches, the first one in which you take the sprite and extract it and the second one in which you return it to the original owner.
Wrapping up
Fortnite’s collabs with esports personalities and streamers have often taken the form of cosmetic bundles appearing in the Item Shop. However, the partnership with Pollo, which has given birth to one of the more exciting sprites in the game instead, is something unique in the same category.
Hopefully, this particular instance sets a precedent and future collabs with similar faces also produce items that go beyond the visual aspect—a change that would be welcome by both Fortnite players and the celeb’s own fans.
