I don’t mean to sound harsh, but what’s detailed in blog is rather brain-dead, but maybe it doesn’t address a more nuanced issue/question that I can’t seem to find an answer for.

Of course if we delete the chats (hello!!!), but I do NOT want to delete my chats. I presume previously that I can archive the chats to iCloud or something, so that it’ll free up space on my iphone while I can still retrieve those chats if I want to. But apparently in whatsapp, the “archive” simply means the chats are moved to some “folder” called archive, but those chats all still reside on the phone, and archiving those chats did absolutely NOTHING to freeing up space on phone.

That would have been MY idea of archiving something (backing them up somewhere that I can still access, but freeing my working space), apparently the whatsapp developers do not understand what archiving really means.
