Find out how Apple’s Dual Knit Band might revolutionize the Vision Pro experience by offering better ergonomics and support for long-term wear.
Apple may soon introduce a new Dual Knit Band for the Vision Pro headset, aiming to fix one of the biggest complaints users have had since launch: comfort during long sessions.
According to backend code discovered by MacRumors, Apple is working on a new strap design called the Dual Knit Band. This accessory doesn’t exist yet but is likely meant to offer the softness of the Solo Knit Band with the extra support of the Dual Loop Band. Essentially, Apple seems to be merging the best of both worlds to help balance the headset’s weight more effectively.
The code suggests the Dual Knit Band will feature two straps, one that goes around the back of the head and another that spans across the top. This design should reduce pressure on the face by redistributing the Vision Pro’s 1.4-pound weight more evenly.
Currently, Apple ships the Vision Pro with two band options: the Solo Knit Band, known for its breathable comfort, and the Dual Loop Band, which offers better stability but is less comfortable. Many Vision Pro users have even experimented by stacking two Solo Knit Bands to achieve the same top support—a DIY fix Apple seems ready to officially adopt.
This new find lines up with a July report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who mentioned that Apple was testing a redesigned strap to make the Vision Pro easier to wear for longer periods. Gurman also hinted that the upcoming refresh would include a faster M5 chip but no major hardware redesigns apart from the strap.
The existing Vision Pro weighs between 21.2 and 22.9 ounces, which can cause noticeable strain on the head and neck after extended use. The Dual Knit Band could address that by distributing the load more evenly, improving overall comfort—a crucial factor for such a premium headset priced at $3,499.
Apple is expected to update the Vision Pro lineup before the end of 2025, introducing this new strap alongside the M5-powered model. While the company hasn’t officially revealed the Dual Knit Band yet, the code references make it clear that Apple is actively refining its design for better ergonomics.
If the rumors hold true, the new Dual Knit Band could finally make the Vision Pro feel as good to wear as it looks, something early adopters have long been waiting for.
