Apple has refreshed the Vision Pro with the powerful M5 chip, stunning 120Hz micro-OLED displays, and a new Dual Knit Band designed for better comfort and balance. Pre-orders are open starting today.
Apple has opted for a low-profile update to its Vision Pro headset, matching the newly unveiled M5-powered iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. This revamped headset now boasts the M5 chip for extra performance and introduces the Dual Knit Band for enhanced wearer comfort.
Apple claims the new Vision Pro’s M5 chip boosts pixel rendering by 10% on its micro-OLED displays and increases the refresh rate to 120Hz from the original 100Hz. These upgrades are expected to deliver sharper visuals, smoother animations, and significantly reduced motion blur, stepping up the immersion factor.
The M5 also features a 16-core Neural Engine that optimizes AI capability. Thanks to this, tasks like persona creation and spatial photo rendering could experience up to a 50% speed increase, with some third-party apps potentially doubling in performance over the first-generation iteration.
The long-speculated Dual Knit Band has become a reality alongside the Vision Pro update, aiming to redefine comfort. It uses an innovative 3D-knitted design with upper and lower straps configured in a dual-rib structure, enhancing both cushioning and airflow. The lower strap incorporates flexible fabric ribs with tungsten inserts functioning as a counterweight for better balance.
The Fit Dial, which serves a dual purpose, allows for even more precise adjustments. This band is available in small, medium, and large sizes and is sold separately. It is also compatible with the original Vision Pro; sizing can be checked via the Apple Store app on an iPhone.
The price of the updated Vision Pro headset holds steady at $3,499 in the U.S., with storage capacities of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.
Pre-orders have already opened in markets including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the UAE, the UK, and the U.S. The launch is slated for October 22, while mainland China and Singapore can start pre-ordering from October 17.
