Tim Cook says he’s “never felt so much excitement” about Apple’s product pipeline, hinting at major launches from new iPhones to Apple Glasses amid rising AI criticism.
Tim Cook has made bullish statements about Apple before, but his latest remarks to employees suggest something more than the usual executive optimism. In an internal all-hands meeting held at the Steve Jobs Theater just a day after Apple’s earnings call and renewed scrutiny over its AI strategy, Cook said he has “never felt so much excitement and energy” around Apple’s product roadmap in his nearly 30-year tenure.
That’s a bold claim from the CEO who helped launch the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods.
While Cook stopped short of naming specific products, he emphasized the scope of what’s ahead. According to attendees, Apple is preparing its broadest hardware slate in years. That reportedly includes refreshed iPhones, iPads, Macs, and updated AirPods. More notably, speculation continues to swirl around foldable devices, long-rumored Apple Glasses, and new entries into the smart home category.
The comments appear timed to shift focus back to Apple’s core hardware strengths, as the company faces questions over its AI leadership. Cook didn’t ignore AI entirely, he called it “as big or bigger” than the internet or smartphone revolutions. Senior VP Craig Federighi also addressed internal concerns about Siri’s delay in adopting generative AI, explaining that a hybrid architecture had been abandoned in favor of maintaining “Apple quality.”
Cook’s enthusiasm isn’t new, but this level of public internal confidence comes at a pivotal moment. Apple’s main hardware lines are aging, and investor patience is thinning as rivals push aggressively into AI and new form factors. A successful launch of Apple Glasses could establish a new category altogether. Fresh home devices might allow Apple to compete more directly with Amazon and Google in smart environments. And a rumored budget MacBook equipped with an iPhone-class chip could reset Apple’s pricing conversation.
Of course, CEO hyperbole doesn’t guarantee a breakthrough. Cook’s statements might just be aimed at energizing staff or reassuring stakeholders during a transition year. But given Apple’s careful approach to internal messaging, it’s notable when its CEO says the next chapter is unlike anything before.
If the coming hardware actually matches the anticipation Cook is cultivating, Apple could be on the verge of its most consequential product cycle in a decade.
