The forthcoming collaboration between Fortnite and One Piece has been something of an open secret for weeks now. In what appears to be the first implicit confirmation, a pirate chest has spawned on the Battle Royale island, possibly teasing players about the coming together of these two hugely popular IPs.
Thanks to the sudden appearance of this unmissable chest, which sits in a lagoon east of Sunken Shores, many Fortnite players have been flocking to it in anticipation of the Fortnite x One Piece collab, which is expected to be fully revealed soon. You can learn more about the pirate chest, its exact location in Fortnite, and the highly anticipated crossover below.
One Piece chest location in Fortnite
The pirate chest is well marked with a treasure chest icon on Fortnite’s Battle Royale map. Its location is flanked by Sunken Shores on the west and Pinky Island on the east. Moreover, it lies directly south of Mega Maze, the shapeshifting maze that is another POI known for being highly contested.
Upon reaching the exact spot, you will come across a giant chest emblazoned with a Jolly Roger. Parts of it may appear translucent blue, depending on how much of it has loaded in the game at that point in time. The other parts are opaque and painted in conventional colors. At the time of writing, more than half of the chest had yet to load.
The chest loads in one stage per day at 9 AM ET (6 AM PT) and should be fully visible by the end of this week.
According to information shared by X users Luwani and Wenso and corroborated by popular leaker SpushFNBR, you can hear certain songs playing near the chest. These songs are reportedly:
- Birdbrain by Jamie Paige (ft. Kasane Teto)
- Miku by Anamanaguchi (ft. Hatsune Miku)
- RIOT by A$AP Rocky
- What You Saying by Lil Uzi Vert
There are also voiceovers discovered in the game’s files that are audible in the vicinity of the chest.
Fortnite x One Piece collab: What to expect
According to leaks going back to late September, Fortnite x One Piece is planned as a mini-season for November. It would follow right after the Fortnite Override season, which is scheduled to run until October 31. Besides that, files for a similar crossover with the famed anime franchise were also spotted in Rocket League, another online multiplayer title owned by Epic Games.
ONE PIECE SHOULD BE THIS YEAR’S MINI SEASON 🔥👀 I’ve heard from many sources that One Piece will be happening at the end of this year, and will most likely be the November mini season! Recent Rocket League leaks seem to confirm this! #Fortnite | via: me & @SamLeakss https://t.co/YHZhRvYQ9J

Moving on from the mini-season reports, not much concrete information has surfaced about what the Fortnite x One Piece event may entail. However, judging by how previous Fortnite mini-seasons played out, we may see a themed Battle Pass, new map POIs, and loot pool updates roll out in the game.
Epic has also started teasing the mini-season itself. Posters spotted in Madrid and Tokyo this week show anime-style Fortnite characters and a pirate skull, though no One Piece characters. A$AP Rocky also teased a Fortnite collab with pirate imagery on October 21.
Wrapping up
The giant pirate chest is one of the most intriguing additions to Fortnite’s Chapter 7 Season 4 map as the Override season approaches its end. Its changing appearance, reported music, and voice lines have given players plenty to speculate about.
If the rumored One Piece crossover becomes official, it could become one of the best Fortnite collabs, bringing exciting new cosmetics, map changes, and themed gameplay to the island. However, Epic Games has yet to confirm the collaboration or reveal what it might include.
For now, players can visit the lagoon east of Sunken Shores and south of Mega Maze to check out the chest for themselves. We’ll know more when Epic Games shares an official announcement.
