It’s the final days of Fortnite’s Chapter 7 Season 2, and players are scampering to complete remaining quests in time and claim their rewards. One such end-of-season quest revolves around going up against the Dark Voyager, one of the more persistent villains in Epic’s multiplayer game. However, the tricky part is he isn’t really easy to track down and needs at least some sort of strategy in place.

The Dark Voyager appears near select POIs in the map, never spawning in the same spot each match. There is also the fact that other players can also reach this character first and eliminate him, ridding you of your chance to complete the quest objective in that one match. These reasons make it somewhat challenging for certain Fortnite enthusiasts to complete the corresponding quest.

The following guide will help make things easier by sharing tips about how to locate Dark Voyager and inflict damage on him.

Where to find Dark Voyager in the Fortnite map

Besides being an Epic-tier Fortnite skin, Dark Voyager is also an elusive boss in the game. In one match, he may appear in the northern parts of the map. In the next one, you may bump into him on the polar opposite side of the island. However, there are three POIs where this ominous antagonist seems to appear more frequently compared to other areas.

The most common sightings of the Dark Voyager have been in the Dark Dominion, smack dab at the center of the map. So, your best bet would be landing there and scouring the region for him. If the Dark Voyager is indeed in that region, an icon of a skull wearing a crown will appear on the map. You can head to that spot to confront your target.

In case the Dark Voyager isn’t there, there are two other POIs where he’s likely to be found. On the one hand, you may check the Toybox Docks, which are north-west of Wonkeeland. On the other hand, you may explore the Perfect Plunge, which is located to the south of Battlewood Boulevard.

In every match, the Dark Voyager spawns randomly at any one of the aforementioned POIs. So, not all players will find him in the same part of the map, as it keeps changing with every match.

It’s also worth remembering that, besides you, there may be others in that match who are looking out for Dark Voyager. If one of them defeats the skull-faced foe before you find him, you will have to look again in the next match as he won’t respawn in that one.

How to do damage to Fortnite’s Dark Voyager

There is currently a Week 11 story-related quest, “Damage Dark Voyager in an attempt to weaken him,” that involves manually locating the Dark Voyager and dealing 500 damage to him in exchange for 20,000 XP. Since the goal is only to inflict damage and not to fully defeat the powerful villain, a well-defined strategy can help you tick this quest off with some ease.

Before you go off on this pursuit, make sure to stock up on ammunition, as you’re going to need it the most. Once you see the skull icon on the map, go towards it until you spot the Dark Voyager. To kick off the confrontation, you must attack him first using any weapon.

For dealing the most damage and collecting hit points quickly, headshots are the most effective. I recommend keeping your aim slightly above the Dark Voyager’s chest area to boost chances of hitting him on the head. Besides accurate shooting, you would also need well-timed movement to dodge the incoming attacks from the enemy and his team of drones.

Following this strategy should help you get to a 500 damage score without much fuss. However, if you go one step ahead and manage to eliminate him, you will not only receive the XP reward but will also unlock Dark Voyager’s Obliterator Shotgun, which is a Legendary Chaos Reloader Shotgun. This rare weapon is very potent and can majorly aid you in your other quests.

Being a quest active during the final stretch before a new season, it is being rushed to completion by a lot of Fortnite players right now. You have time until June 5, 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET, to complete this weekly mission.

Post that, Fortnite Runners—the third season of Chapter 7—will take over starting from June 6, 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET. The forthcoming season will feature a range of new collaborations with highly popular IPs, such as John Wick and He-Man, which have already got fans excited and looking forward to the update.
