The legendary assassin John Wick is back in Fortnite as part of Chapter 7 Season 3, Runners. This time, however, he isn’t arriving alone. Epic Games has also added John Wick’s dog as a companion that players can unlock through a special in-game quest.

Unlike many sidekicks that can be purchased directly from the Item Shop, John Wick’s dog requires players to complete a specific quest after gaining access to the current season’s Battle Pass.

Here’s everything you need to know about finding, rescuing, and unlocking John Wick’s dog in Fortnite.

How to unlock John Wick’s dog in Fortnite

Before you can begin the quest, you’ll need to purchase the Chapter 7 Season 3 Battle Pass, which costs 800 V-Bucks.

Once you have access to the Battle Pass, launch a match and begin searching for John Wick’s dog.

Although the dog’s exact location isn’t marked on the main map, an icon will appear on your mini-map whenever you get close enough to its spawn location.

Where to find John Wick’s dog in Fortnite

    Dog map location

John Wick’s dog can spawn at one of two locations during a match:

    • The Battlewoods
    • Sinister Strip

    The Battlewoods location

If the dog spawns at The Battlewoods, you’ll find it inside the sewers located in the northeastern section of the area.

To reach the sewers, head beneath the bridge and take the stairs leading underground.

    Sinister Strip location

If the dog spawns at Sinister Strip, you’ll find it inside the southernmost building.

Look for the black building marked with a gold logo and positioned behind a large decorative fountain.

    Listen for barking

As you get closer to the dog, you’ll often hear barking sounds that can help you pinpoint its exact location.

Combined with the mini-map marker, this makes tracking down the companion relatively straightforward.

When you find the dog, it will typically be locked inside a cage and guarded by hostile NPC enemies.

To complete the quest, you must:

    1. Defeat the first wave of enemies.
    2. Eliminate the second wave that spawns afterward.
    3. Interact with the cage.
    4. Free and pet the dog.

Once completed, you’ll unlock the associated quest rewards, including John Wick’s dog as a sidekick for future matches.

    Tips for completing the quest

Fortunately, this isn’t one of Fortnite’s more difficult quests.

Unlike certain seasonal missions that feature powerful bosses or complex mechanics, the John Wick’s Dog quest primarily involves fighting standard NPC enemies.

A few tips can make the encounter even easier:

    • Keep moving to avoid being surrounded.
    • Use nearby cover during firefights.
    • Eliminate enemies from range whenever possible.
    • Reload and heal between enemy waves.

As long as you avoid getting overwhelmed by numbers, the quest should be manageable for most players.

Is John Wick’s dog worth unlocking?

For fans of the John Wick franchise, absolutely.

The companion helps complete the iconic duo and serves as one of the standout rewards introduced alongside Fortnite’s latest John Wick collaboration.

Since the quest is relatively straightforward and doesn’t require defeating a major boss, it’s one of the easier seasonal unlocks currently available in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3.
