Apple’s 2025 holiday return policy now lets shoppers return eligible purchases until January 8, 2026—perfect for early gift buyers.
Apple has opened its annual holiday return policy, allowing customers a longer timeframe to return items bought during the festive season. This extended return period covers purchases made in-store and online starting November 12, 2025.
Based on Apple’s official site, items purchased between November 12, 2025, and December 25, 2025, are eligible for return until January 8, 2026. Any purchases made after December 25 will revert to Apple’s usual 14-day return policy.
For those picking up a new iPhone, MacBook, or Apple Watch, this means nearly two months to decide if the gift works out, especially beneficial for those preferring to shop early. However, there are caveats: Apple notes that iPhones bought through T-Mobile or Verizon on finance are not included in this policy extension and must adhere to the regular terms. Apple’s standard Sales and Refunds Policy continues to govern all other aspects.
Many Apple products are covered by the extended policy, though some exceptions persist. Categories still excluded include Apple Gift Cards, opened software, electronic software downloads, software upgrades, and Apple Developer items like memberships or WWDC tickets.
While these exclusions typically aren’t major concerns for most holiday shoppers, Apple ensures the policy is clear to avoid any confusion over what’s eligible for return.
In tandem with the policy update, Apple’s retail locations and online storefronts have decked the halls, introducing festive decorations as part of the seasonal shift. This change aligns with Apple’s tradition of welcoming the holiday season with aesthetic updates and shopping-friendly policies.
This extended return window could motivate buyers to start their holiday shopping earlier, minimizing panic over unwanted gifts come December.
