AirPods are so effortless to charge (and use) that Apple calls them ‘magical.’ You pop them in their included case that holds multiple charges, and that is it. However, now and then, you might face issues of AirPods not charging.
Many users on Reddit have also shared similar grievances. A situation like this is frustrating as you may be wanting to juice up the pods quickly for taking an important call or listening to music. So, let us look at six straightforward and easy fixes for times when AirPods won’t charge.
AirPods Not Charging at All? Here’s The Real Fix
- Make Sure the AirPods Case is Charged
- See Case Light when Putting in the AirPods
- Wipe AirPods’ Charging Connectors
- Blow Air into the AirPods Case
- Check Lightning Cable or Wireless Charger
- Reset the AirPods
#1. Make Sure the AirPods Case is Charged
Sometimes we put the AirPods in the case without realizing that the case itself has no charge. So the first step is to make sure your AirPods case is charged.
#2. See Case Light when Putting in the AirPods
When you put the AirPods back in the case, the light slowly blinks once. This confirms that the AirPod has started charging. If the light does not slowly blink, then take out the AirPod and place it again. If it still does not, try the next step.
#3. Wipe AirPods’ Charging Connectors
I am an AirPods user, and I use this method almost daily. During regular use, my personal experience says that the silver charging connectors (which is at the tip of the AirPod tail) collect oil, etc. on it. When I put the AirPods in the case, the charging confirmation light does not glow.
For this, I gently wipe the tip of the AirPods on the cloth I am wearing and then put it inside the case. The light glows, and the charging starts. I can not vouch that this will work for you, but it works a hundred percent of the time for me, and thus I thought I should share this.
#4. Blow Air into the AirPods Case
AirPods case gets dirty quickly. Dirt particles may also get inside the narrow tube where the charging pins lie. Blowing air inside these might be of some help. (Make sure you do not accidentally blow a lot of moisture into it.)
#5. Check Lightning Cable or Wireless Charger
Apple recommends that you use the Lightning Cable that came with your AirPods. Make sure you are using an Apple Lightning Cable (and an Apple Charging Adapter) or an Apple Certified cable and adapter. The same goes for the wireless charger if you are using one for your AirPods with a wireless charging case.
#6. Reset the AirPods
Finally, if nothing works, resetting the AirPods might be helpful.
So these were some of the ways to fix the issue of AirPods not charging. Now, some methods like wiping on cloth or blowing air were unconventional and based on personal experience. I hope one of the six ways listed above did the job for you. Share your thoughts in the comments below.
