Even though dust on iOS 12 hasn’t yet settled, iOS 13 rumors have gained momentum. In a few months, Apple will announce next-gen iOS at the WWDC 2019. As it’s normally been the trend, the new iOS version won’t support some older iPhone, iPad, and iPod models. And that’s what seems to have driven the curiosity to predict the iOS 13 compatible devices.
If the recent report from the Israeli site, The Verifier is to be believed, Apple will leave out many devices, making them incompatible to run the latest iOS version.
Generally, the new operating system supports up to five-year-old devices. But if The Verifier’s questionable report proves to be true, the OS won’t work with more than three-year-old devices.
iOS 13 Supported Devices: Will The Next-Gen iOS Support Only A Handful of Old iPhone and iPad Models?
According to the site, the forthcoming iOS version won’t be compatible with iPhone 5s, iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6s Plus. As per the report, the OS will be incompatible with iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad Air, iPad Air 2 and even sixth-generation iPod touch.
The Verifier isn’t sure whether the iPad mini 4 will be able to run the next-gen iOS version or not. It has updated the report, saying that the compatibility of iPhone 6s and SE with the OS isn’t confirmed.
Going by this report, iOS 13 will work with iPhone 7 or later, iPad 6th-gen, and iPad Pro all models. You should take this report with a heavy dose of salt for multiple reasons. First and foremost, Apple now wants its iOS to support as many old devices as possible.
And the second, the tech giant seems to have put more emphasis on the services sector in the wake of hardware saturation.
The support of AirPlay 2 on third-party TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony, and other manufacturers just shows how serious the Cupertino-based company is about the growth of its services. And in such a scenario, it’s highly unlikely that the company will take such a risky step.
We believe that iOS 13 will be in line with the past trend and therefore will support up to five-year-old devices. Check out the below list of devices, which we think, will run the next-gen OS.
