With Fortnite’s Hot Bat Summer promotion in full swing, the Batman Sprite has recently entered the fray and become yet another name for players to add to their list of sprites. This one grants a unique ability for players, allowing them to launch into the air with the Bat Cape equipped.
Apart from grabbing Batman Sprite by going on a chest hunt or by completing quests, you can also get it by dueling with either Catwoman, Poison Ivy, or Harley Quinn, all of whom can be found in certain parts of the map. While the base Batman Sprite can be obtained through winning these duels, other variants of the sprite—such as the Galaxy one—can only be obtained through opening chests.
Read on to find out the details of where you can encounter the aforementioned DC villains and kick off a duel with them, in order to get the Batman Sprite. Also, it’s important to note that there is a possibility that other players may already be at a given villain’s location when you reach it. So, be prepared to take care of such surprise encounters.
How to find Catwoman in Fortnite
Towards the south of Wonkeeland and north-east of the Frosted Flats, there is a beach lining the coast. Once there, go to the location marked in the image above, and there you will find Catwoman.
When you encounter Batman’s feline foe, walk up to her and press the interact button. Then, make sure to pick the “Duel: Challenge Catwoman” option and confirm your decision. This will start your face-off with Catwoman.
During the battle, Catwoman will use an SMG to fire at you and also use her agile moves to dodge your fire. Make sure to keep an eye on her shield and health as well as yours and take her down through a coordinated attack. Once you defeat her, she will drop Catwoman’s Rapid Fire SMG and occasionally a Batman Sprite as well.
How to find Poison Ivy in Fortnite
West of the Lifty Lodge and towards the northern part of The Battlewoods lies a small island connected by a single bridge. On the southern tip of that island, as demarcated above, you will come across Poison Ivy standing on ground covered with small rocks and pebbles.
Walk up to the femme fatale and interact with the option, “Duel: Challenge Poison Ivy”. Once you confirm your decision, Ivy will turn hostile and start attacking you.
During this fight, Ivy will rely on pistols and stink grenades. Based on that, you must ensure not to spend too long in the gas cloud when she deploys a grenade. There is also a healing mechanic that replenishes the villain’s health from time to time. So, try to not give her enough time to recover in the midst of battle. After the fight is won, you can obtain Poison Ivy’s Ranger Pistol and sometimes even a Batman Sprite from her.
How to find Harley Quinn in Fortnite
In the south-west corner of the Sinister Strip area, you will see a sandy spot in between lush vegetation. Harley Quinn can be found right there, waiting to be spotted, near some inflatable toys floating in the river.
Go to Quinn and interact to select the “Duel: Challenge Harley Quinn” option. Once you confirm your decision, a boss fight will commence immediately.
During the face-off, Harley Quinn will use her assault rifle and occasionally grenades to take you out. For that reason, don’t just shoot at your target but also pay attention to any throwables that come your way. After you successfully vanquish her, she will drop Harley Quinn’s Warforged AR and, at times, a Batman Sprite for you to claim.
Getting Batman Sprite from other players
Steal it from another player
Sometimes, the easier way to get your hands on a sprite is not to track it down or fight a boss for it but to simply snatch it from an opponent. To do this, check the backs of the players you find in the lobby to see if they are carrying any desirable sprite.
If you do find someone like that, once the match begins, keep an eye on when he exits the Battle Bus. Then, chase after him and eliminate him to claim the sprite for your own.
Index it from a friend
Visit Fortnite’s official Discord and go to the “sprite-runners-network” channel. There, you can find other players who already own a sprite, willing to let others index it from them. This act involves temporarily borrowing the desired sprite from another player during a match, extracting it (so that it appears in your sprite collection), and then returning it.
Wrapping up
Throughout the Runners season, sprites have been a big draw among Fortnite fans. The newer sprites, such as Batman Sprite and Vini Jr Sprite, have thrown into the mix a few unique sprites based on popular figures. Interestingly, these sprites even have abilities modeled after their respective figures.
In the coming days, it will be interesting to see what Epic Games has next in store. Personally, I’m intrigued about the chances of more sprites inspired by fictional and real personalities making their way into the game. There have been some leaks about a Spider-Man sprite, so I have my hopes up for an addition like that to drop soon.
