Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street is a part of Fortnite’s annual Halloween event this year, Fortnitemares 2026. As a result, the iconic villain has not only been introduced in the Shop as a cosmetic item, but he has also been put on the Battle Royale map as a rather challenging boss.
There is a strong incentive for confronting and eliminating Freddy in Fortnite, owing to his signature claws named Freddy’s Nightmare that he drops as mythic loot. Players can use the same for the duration of the match and gain a significant edge in close combat against enemies. Read on to find out where you can find Freddy and how you can take him down to claim this weapon as a reward.
Freddy Krueger location in Fortnite
To come across Freddy Krueger in Fortnite Battle Royale is not particularly difficult, given he is exclusively found wandering in the Nightmare Neighborhood, located to the north-east of Green Hill Zone and to the south of the Pac-Man island. You will usually find him closer to the central part of this POI, walking on the pavement. Additionally, you can take the help of the skull icon that appears on the map once you’re in close proximity to him.
However, it is kind of tricky to be able to know it’s Freddy when you do come across him. That’s because the Nightmare on Elm Street antagonist can shape-shift and sometimes takes the guise of the character known as The Order. In this form, the fight with him can be triggered when you interact, via the chat option, with the character he is portraying.
In other instances, you can encounter Freddy in his own flesh and blood. But keep in mind that, in his true form, he will attack you on sight. So, it’s recommended to anticipate this in advance if you are planning to approach him when he is in his usual look.
How to defeat Freddy Krueger and unlock Freddy’s Nightmare mythic
Going up against Freddy Krueger is just as tricky as identifying him when he is using a disguise. As soon as you start the fight, the disfigured devil will come sprinting to slash your character with his clawed glove.
The part where the face-off gets tricky is when Freddy dodges your attacks by teleporting to different nearby spots. It must also be noted that he can even copy the appearance of the player character in the middle of the fight, leaving the latter briefly confused.
Since the boss’ claw glove deals significant damage with each hit, it’s best to evade him when he is charging and to dodge his attacks. In the small window between those attacks, you can rely on basically any weapon of Uncommon or higher rating to eliminate Freddy sooner rather than later. For ending the face-off as fast as possible, make sure to go for headshots.
Fortnitemares bosses available right now
Excitingly, Freddy Krueger isn’t the only horror IP character that has been absorbed into Fortnite as a boss. Apart from him, Five Nights at Freddy’s characters such as Bonnie the Rabbit, Freddy Fazbear, Chica the Chicken, and Foxy the Pirate Fox are also available as boss fights.
While Bonnie and Chica spawn in random locations, Freddy and Foxy can be found lurking at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria—the game’s take on Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, which was the setting for the 2014 survival horror title. Unlike Freddy, the FNAF bosses can be possessed, letting the player use their skin and also get an extra life.
As the Fortnitemares event continues, it will be intriguing to see what else Fortnite devs have under the wraps. Beyond the collab-based cosmetics, more horror-oriented gameplay additions, such as new bosses and match overrides, could freshen things up over time.
