For those unfamiliar with the event, Fortnitemares is Fortnite’s annual Halloween celebration that brings new skins, limited-time game modes, spooky quests, themed map changes, exclusive rewards, and plenty of Halloween surprises. Fortnitemares 2026 Release date and time
Fortnitemares 2026 officially begins on October 1, 2026, as confirmed by Epic Games on X.
Although Epic hasn’t announced an official end date, the event is expected to run throughout October before wrapping up around October 31, which also marks the end of Chapter 7 Season 4: Override.
Before the update goes live, Fortnite servers will go offline for scheduled maintenance. Downtime typically lasts a few hours, after which players should be able to jump into Fortnitemares at approximately 3:00 AM PT. Keep in mind that maintenance can finish earlier or later than expected, so the exact launch time may vary slightly.

Fortnitemares 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest Halloween events Fortnite has seen. From exciting crossovers to spooky map updates and returning game modes, there’s plenty for players to look forward to.
Crossovers
Epic Games has released a cinematic trailer teasing several franchises that could join Fortnite during Fortnitemares. Popular Fortnite leaker HYPEX has also highlighted several crossover references spotted in the trailer, including:

Players can expect themed outfits, back blings, pickaxes, emotes, loading screens, and other cosmetic items inspired by these franchises.
Loot Pool, Sprites, and Map changes
Fortnitemares 2026 will also bring back several fan-favorite Halloween weapons and items. The Pumpkin Launcher, Witch Broom, and other spooky equipment from previous years are expected to return.
Sprites are joining the Halloween festivities too, with new additions including:

- Phase Dash Sprite

The Fortnite island will receive its annual Halloween makeover with decorated POIs featuring pumpkins, cobwebs, spiders, graveyards, fog, and Jack-o’-lanterns.
Leaked information also suggests Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza could arrive as a brand-new point of interest, alongside several other map changes.
Finally, players can once again team up in the returning Horde Rush Limited-Time Mode (LTM), where squads fight waves of Cube Monsters while completing objectives for exclusive rewards.
