How to change your Apple Watch faces automatically

Automatically change your Apple Watch faces based on time

The Shortcuts app makes automation on iPhone effortless. It’s just that setting this automation takes some effort. Make sure you follow these steps sequentially.

  1. Open the Shortcuts app
  2. Tap the Automation tab at the bottom.  
  3. Now, select Create Personal Automation or the “+” icon at the top right corner and then select Create Personal Automation
  4. Select Time of Day.
    You can set the automation time based on Sunrise, Sunset, or a particular Time of Day.
  5. Also, set the frequency you want automation to Repeat.
    You can select from three options, Daily, Weekly, and Monthly
  6. Tap Next

  7. Tap Add Action and select or search Set Watch Face.
  8. Select the option at the end of Set active watch face to.

  9. Choose your desired Apple Watch face from the list and tap Next.
  10. Turn off Ask Before Running.
  11. Confirm Don’t Ask in the dialogue box.
  12. Tap Done.

    How to Automatically change your Apple Watch Face based on time

You’ve successfully automated Apple Watch to change its watch face based on time. Moreover, you can repeat this process to change the watch faces at other times during the day.

How to automatically change your Apple Watch Faces based on Location

  1. Open the Shortcuts app.
  2. Tap the Automation tab at the bottom. 
  3. Now, select Create Personal Automation or the “+” icon at the top right.
  4. Hit Create Personal Automation.
  5. Select Arrive or Leave.
  6. Tap Choose in the Location tab.

  7. Now search for a map location and select it from recent destinations.
    You can also use your Current Location.
  8. Optional: To select the frequency of automation based on the location, you can select a particular time by setting a Time Range or selecting Anytime.
  9. Tap Next

  10. Tap Add Action and select or search Set Watch Face
  11. Select the option at the end of Set active watch face to.  
  12. Choose the Apple Watch face from the list and tap Next
    Remember to turn off Ask Before Running.
  13. Confirm Don’t Ask in the dialogue box. 
  14. Tap Done.

    Automatically change your Apple Watch Face based on Location

Following the same steps, you can set a different watch face when you leave the house or a different watch face as soon as you connect to CarPlay. You can automate your Apple watch face to change based on the Wi-Fi you are connected to or when you are on a certain Focus mode. The possibilities are endless.
