Instagram Adds Live Spotify Sharing, Grid Reorder, and Teases iPad App
Spotify in Notes, custom grids, and an iPad app—Instagram just leveled up your social game.

Instagram is turning up the volume on customization. The platform is now rolling out live Spotify sharing in Notes, giving users a new way to express themselves through music. And that’s not all—Instagram also teased two long-awaited features: post grid reordering and a dedicated iPad app.
Share Your Spotify Tracks in Real Time
Instagram’s new integration lets you display your currently playing Spotify song directly in Notes—the short status updates visible above your DMs. Unlike previous integrations that only allowed sharing a static track, this feature automatically updates as your music changes, showing your friends exactly what you’re listening to in real time.

This builds on the “Add to Spotify” feature introduced in late 2024 and makes sharing your musical mood even more seamless.

Part of the “Anyway” Campaign
The new Spotify feature is part of Instagram’s “Anyway” campaign, aimed at reducing social pressure and encouraging creative self-expression. Instagram Head Adam Mosseri says it’s all about giving users more casual, fun ways to interact—without the pressure of likes or perfect posts.
Rearranging Your Profile Grid—Coming Soon

Instagram also confirmed that post grid reordering is on the way. First teased in January, the feature lets users rearrange the layout of their profile posts without changing the original post dates. It’s ideal for creators and casual users alike who want their grid to reflect a specific aesthetic or story.
According to The Verge, Instagram is currently testing the feature internally and preparing for rollout soon.
Yes, Instagram for iPad Is Finally in Development
After years of requests, Instagram is finally building an app for the iPad. The Information reports that Meta reportedly changed course after concluding that the iPad user base is now large enough to justify dedicated development. The recent release of WhatsApp for iPad marks a clear shift in Meta’s strategy to treat the iPad as a primary platform rather than a secondary one.
These Small Changes Could Have a Big Impact
Although these changes may seem subtle to most users, they demonstrate that Instagram is finally prioritizing authentic expression, listening to user requests, and putting user experience at the forefront.
