How to Use Widgets on iPhone

You probably already use widgets on your iPhone every day without even realizing it. So what is Widget on iOS? They come in handy for a multitude of routine tasks such as checking the weather, seeing your to-do list or reminders, playing and pausing music, and much more. Different apps have widgets of their own, which are easily accessible from the home or lock screen of your device. So let’s learn how to use Widgets on your iPhone:

Where are Widgets Located on iPhone?

Widgets are basically located on the Today View screen. And there are three ways to access the widgets screen on your iPhone:

  • Swipe right from the Home screen. Swipe Right on Home Screen to Access Widgets on iPhone
  • Swipe right from the Lock screen. Access Widgets from iPhone Lock Screen
  • Swipe down on your Home screen to reveal the Notification Center and then swipe right on it. Open Notifications from iPhone Home Screen and Swipe Right
  • Swipe in from the left to reveal the Today View. 

How to Add a Widget on an iPhone

  1. Access the widgets screen on your device, as explained above. Swipe Right on Home Screen to Access Widgets on iPhone
  2. Scroll down and tap on Edit
  3. You will see a list of all the available widgets on your iPhone. Those that have a red circle to the left are already added to the list
  4. To add a widget, scroll down until you find the one you want and tap the green + button. 
  5. Tap Done after you’ve added all the widgets you want to. Add a Widget on iPhone

Note: On your iPad, since the screen is bigger, you can also pin widgets on the Home screen for easier access.

How to Rearrange Widgets on iPhone

  1. Access the Widgets screen. Swipe Right on Home Screen to Access Widgets on iPhone
  2. Scroll down and tap on Edit
  3. Tap and hold the three-lines icon on the right side of the widget you’d like to move
  4. Keep holding down the icon and drag the widget up or down to place it where you want on the list and then tap on Done. Rearrange Widgets on iPhone

How to Remove Widgets on iPhone

  1. Access the Widgets screen. Swipe Right on Home Screen to Access Widgets on iPhone
  2. Scroll down and tap on Edit
  3. To remove a widget, tap the red circle beside it, which is the – button
  4. Tap on Remove and then tap on Done. Remove Widgets on iPhone

How to Quickly View and Add Widgets from Apps

If you have 3D Touch or Haptic Touch supported iPhone, you can quickly view and add widgets from the app itself.

  1. Find app whose widget you want to add
  2. Touch and hold the app icon to activate its menu

How to Access Widget from Lockscreen

Make sure you have allowed Today View access from the lockscreen.

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Tap on Touch ID & Passcode or Face ID & Passcode. Enter your iPhone password. open settings app tap on touch id and passcode and enter passcode on iphone
  3. From under ALLOW ACCESS WHEN LOCKED, make sure the toggle for Today View is enabled. enable today view in touch id and passcode on iphone
