ChatGPT can now create a preview of how clothes or accessories might look on you, then save products to revisit later. The tools are available in ChatGPT on mobile and the web, adding a visual layer to the product search flow.
Try on clothes with a selfie
Eligible clothing and accessory listings now have a Try on button. Select it, then take or upload a selfie to generate a preview with ChatGPT Images. You can also upload a picture of an item in a conversation and ask ChatGPT to show how it might look on you. The try-on builds on ChatGPT’s image tools to place an item into a generated preview.
ChatGPT saves reference photos for future try-ons, so you do not have to upload the same selfie each time. You can replace or delete a photo in Settings > Personalization > Reference photos. That gives users a way to manage the image they have chosen for this feature, though OpenAI’s help information does not describe additional privacy controls specific to try-on photos.
Saved finds live in ChatGPT Library
Tap the bookmark icon on a product to save it to Favorites. You can also create folders in ChatGPT Library to group products, then return to them later. That is useful if you are comparing several items over time instead of buying from the first result.
The virtual preview has limits: OpenAI says it may not match your appearance or the product exactly, and it does not confirm fit or size. Check a merchant’s measurements, product details, and return policy before ordering. The image can help you picture a style, but it cannot tell whether a garment will fit.
ChatGPT is still a shopping search tool
When a question signals shopping intent, ChatGPT can show product images, details, and links to merchants. OpenAI says those results are selected independently and are not ads or influenced by its commercial partnerships. That makes the results a discovery tool: the merchant still controls the listing, price, availability, and return terms. Check its product page before buying, especially if you are comparing size or color options.
ChatGPT uses the request and context such as a budget to choose products, but OpenAI warns that it can misunderstand what you want or leave out relevant options. Some listing labels and review summaries are generated from third-party information and are not guarantees. Treat the carousel as a shortlist to inspect, not a complete or verified comparison of everything for sale.
Some eligible products and merchants also support Instant Checkout, while other purchases take you to the retailer’s site. Try-on and saved finds keep more of product discovery inside ChatGPT, but the merchant still handles the actual purchase. Google’s Gemini and AI Mode checkout test with Flipkart points to the same broader shift toward shopping inside AI assistants.
