Apple is working on a way to let AI agents and AI coding apps operate in the App Store while preserving its privacy and security standards, according to The Information.
Vibe coding apps ran into App Store limits
In March, Apple reportedly blocked updates for some popular vibe coding apps because they violated rules against executing code that changes an app’s functionality or affects other apps.
Vibe coding apps let users build apps and websites with prompts instead of manual coding. These tools can generate code, create mini apps, and change software behavior in ways App Store review was not built to handle.
AI agents put the same pressure on Apple’s rules. They can use tools, complete tasks, and take actions with less direct user control. Apple reportedly wants to support them without giving rogue agents room to delete content, break workflows, or take unintended actions.
Siri is getting a bigger AI upgrade
Apple is also preparing a major Siri update for iOS 27. The Information says the new Siri will use custom Gemini models from Google to compete more directly with ChatGPT and Claude.
Apple has started asking developers to connect app actions to Siri and Apple Intelligence. That could let Siri book flights, send calendar invites, and complete other tasks through supported apps.
Developers are cautious about Apple’s fees
Some developers are hesitant because Apple may eventually charge for these integrations. Apple has reportedly told some partners it does not plan to take commissions in the early stage, but fees could come later.
Apple has also discussed Siri support with Baidu, Alibaba, and Tencent for iOS 27. The company also plans to let users choose from multiple chatbots for Siri instead of relying only on ChatGPT. Anthropic and Google models could be used for features like Writing Tools and Image Playground.
Apple is expected to unveil the new Siri at WWDC on June 8, where it could also explain how AI agents and vibe coding apps will fit into the App Store.
