iPhone 18 Pro’s smaller Dynamic Island could make Siri AI look right

Siri AI looks like a pill on current iPhones, but a smaller iPhone 18 Pro Dynamic Island could make Apple’s new assistant UI look more natural.

Apple’s new Siri AI on iPhone currently appears as a wide glowing pill around the Dynamic Island. A new design theory suggests that it may not be the shape Apple had in mind for the long term.

UI designer Lorenzo argued on X that Apple may have designed the new Siri interface with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in mind, since the rumored smaller Dynamic Island would let Siri appear closer to a round orb instead of a stretched pill.

That is not a hardware leak by itself. It is a smart UI observation built on earlier iPhone 18 Pro rumors. Apple has not announced the iPhone 18 Pro, and it has not confirmed any Dynamic Island redesign.

The rumor depends on a smaller cutout

The idea only works if Apple’s next Pro iPhones really do shrink the Dynamic Island. Earlier leaks claimed the iPhone 18 Pro could make the cutout about 35% narrower, with tipster Ice Universe pointing to a width of roughly 13.5 mm.

That would be a visible change from the current pill-shaped Dynamic Island. It would also explain why Siri AI’s interface looks more natural on iPad and Mac, where it is not forced to wrap around a long camera and Face ID cutout.

The hardware side of this rumor has been floating around for months. Previous iPhone 18 Pro Dynamic Island leaks pointed to Apple moving more Face ID components under the display, leaving a smaller visible cutout for the front camera and related sensors.

Siri AI may be previewing future hardware

If the rumor is accurate, iOS 27 may be showing a software interface that fits the iPhone 18 Pro better than current iPhones. On today’s models, Siri AI has to expand across the Dynamic Island, so the glowing orb becomes a pill.

On a smaller cutout, the same animation could look more like the circular Siri interface Apple uses elsewhere. That would make the new assistant feel less like it is working around old hardware and more like it belongs at the top of the display.

This is still a cautious read. Apple often designs software across multiple current and future devices, but a beta UI does not confirm an unreleased iPhone design. The safer takeaway is that the new Siri interface has made the Dynamic Island rumor more interesting.

Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 18 lineup this fall. Until then, the smaller Dynamic Island remains unconfirmed, and Siri AI’s pill shape is simply how Apple’s new assistant looks on current iPhones.
