Apple has released iOS 27 developer beta 4 for compatible iPhones. The update carries build number 24A5390f and focuses on fixing bugs across Camera, CarPlay, Siri, Safari, Messages, and other parts of the system.
Beta 4 arrives two weeks after iOS 27 beta 3, which added visible changes such as Siri voice customization and Live Recognition. This time, Apple is concentrating on stability rather than another batch of headline features.
What iOS 27 beta 4 fixes
Apple’s release notes list several fixes that iPhone users may notice:
- Portrait mode should no longer render the background blur incorrectly.
- Alarms can now be stopped from the Lock Screen without first unlocking the iPhone.
- CarPlay fixes restore next and previous track buttons on the steering wheel and address silent stereo playback after Spatial Audio content.
- Safari’s tab bar should no longer disappear from the screen.
- Messages fixes incorrectly sized GIFs and pasted images, along with garbled HDR screenshots.
- Files should be more reliable when deleting items from Recently Deleted.
- Screen Time restrictions should apply correctly to child accounts.
- A system stability fix addresses devices freezing or restarting while idle.
Apple has also fixed a bug that could leave an iPhone with a deeply discharged battery stuck on the red battery screen. Home Screen customization, Sleep Focus, StandBy clocks, AirPlay connections protected by a PIN, and the clipped Add a Control button in Control Center receive fixes too.
Siri gets a long list of repairs
The Siri section is much longer. Apple says beta 4 fixes failures when sending a confirmed message, creating recurring reminders, opening URLs, starting some calls, and launching Maps navigation through CarPlay.
Contact handling should also be safer. Earlier builds could choose the wrong person when contacts shared a name or even draft a message to an unrelated contact when the requested name did not exist. Apple lists both problems as fixed.
There are still rough edges. Siri may act on every photo returned in a search instead of only the photos you select. It may also read a message from an unknown sender when asked for the latest message, and responses in CarPlay can be slow when the iPhone is hot or the network is poor.
How to install iOS 27 beta 4
If your Apple Account already has access to the developer beta, install the update directly from the iPhone:
- Open Settings and go to General > Software Update.
- Tap Beta Updates and select iOS 27 Developer Beta.
- Return to the Software Update screen.
- Tap Update Now when iOS 27 beta 4 appears.

Beta 4 is currently a developer release. If you are using the first iOS 27 public beta, stay on the public beta channel and wait for Apple to release the next build there. At the time of writing, Apple has not announced a matching public beta update.
Even with this many fixes, iOS 27 remains unfinished software. A secondary iPhone is still the safer place to test it, especially if you depend on CarPlay, banking apps, or your phone for work.
