In our earlier information, we dealt with a hack that enables you to use a native tvOS web browser on your Apple TV. In this tutorial, we have come up with how you can install a web browser on your Apple TV.
This cannot be done from your Mac AppStore, and therefore you need to sideload tvOSBrowser on Apple TV. You can check the procedure to sideload any app here.
How to Install a Web Browser on Your Apple TV
Step #1. First off, sideload the tvOSBrowser on our Apple TV.
During this process, you will face an error: “UIWebView” is unavailable: not available on tvOS.
Step #2. Now open the Applications folder.
Step #3. Select Show Package Contents after right clicking Xcode app.
Step #4. Click on Developer → Platforms → AppleTVOS.platform → Developer → SDKs → AppleTVOS.sdk → usr → include.
Step #5. Now double click on Availability.h to open in Xcode.
Step #6. Locate following lines:
#define __TVOS_UNAVAILABLE __OS_AVAILABILITY(tvos,unavailable)
#define __TVOS_PROHIBITED __OS_AVAILABILITY(tvos,unavailable)
Replace above lines with:
#define __TVOS_UNAVAILABLE_NOTQUITE __OS_AVAILABILITY(tvos,unavailable)
#define __TVOS_PROHIBITED_NOTQUITE __OS_AVAILABILITY(tvos,unavailable)
Step #7. Save changes to Availability.h
Step #8. Now rebuild the tvOSBrowser with the help of Play button in Xcode, and tvOSBrowser should build successfully.
Step #9. Locate tvOSBrowser icon on Apple TV and start browsing the web on your TV.
The above procedure is quite simple and it will take hardly a few minutes to perform steps. This is not your professional browser that you find your Mac or iPhone and iPad. It has basic features; let’s hope Apple TV or other developers come up with some extraordinary features in future.
