Ever since Fortnite Runners launched on June 6, players have been hunting down every sprite they can find. What started as a fun collectible system has quickly turned into something resembling a Pokémon-style collection challenge, with players trying to unlock every sprite and variant available.
The biggest obstacle, however, has been the rarity of some Legendary sprites. Even after dozens of matches, certain variants remain incredibly difficult to find. Fortunately, Epic Games is giving players another chance through the upcoming Catch Up Day event.
If you started collecting sprites late or are still missing some of the rarest ones, Catch Up Day is easily one of the best opportunities to expand your collection. Here’s everything you need to know about the event, including the featured sprites and the full schedule.
What is Fortnite Catch Up Day?
Catch Up Day is a limited-time Fortnite event during which Legendary-tier sprites spawn much more frequently than usual.
According to Epic Games, Punk Sprite, Boss Sprite, and Dream Sprite will all receive a significant spawn boost during the event. Their base, Gold, Gummy, and Galaxy variants will be available, with spawn rates increased by 4x compared to normal.
For players still chasing these elusive sprites, this dramatically improves the odds of finding and extracting them before the event ends.
Below is a quick look at what each featured sprite brings to the battlefield.
Punk Sprite
Punk Sprite is probably the most unpredictable Legendary sprite currently available.
Its Level 5 ability gives players a chance to gain unlimited ammo, but unlike other sprite abilities, it doesn’t activate consistently. Instead, it relies on chance, making Punk Sprite a high-risk, high-reward option.
While you can’t rely on it every match, the unlimited ammo effect can completely change a fight whenever it triggers.
Boss Sprite
If you prefer playing aggressively, Boss Sprite is one of the strongest defensive choices.
Equipping it increases your maximum Health and Shield, allowing you to survive more damage than other players. That extra durability makes it easier to push fights, survive third-party attacks, and stay alive during hectic end-game circles.
It’s one of the most practical Legendary sprites available for players who like taking calculated risks.
Dream Sprite
Dream Sprite works almost like a mobile loot chest. As it levels up, it unlocks progressively better rewards, eventually granting Legendary-tier loot at Level 5.
If your goal is to maximize loot quality throughout a match, Dream Sprite remains one of the best companions you can equip.
Fortnite Catch Up Day schedule
The Catch Up Day event begins on July 2 and runs for 24 hours, ending on July 3 at 9 AM ET / 6 AM PT.
Interestingly, the event also falls on a Thursday, the same day Epic Games typically introduces new sprites or sprite variants.
That means players have an opportunity to stock up on some of the rarest existing Legendary sprites before jumping into the hunt for newly released additions later that day.

Final thoughts
Collecting every sprite in Fortnite Runners has become one of the game’s biggest long-term challenges. Between multiple rarity tiers and increasingly rare variants, completing the collection requires patience, persistence, and a bit of luck.
That’s exactly why Catch Up Day feels like such an important event. A fourfold increase in Legendary sprite spawns gives players a genuine opportunity to fill some of the biggest gaps in their collection without relying entirely on luck.
Of course, the chase won’t end there. As soon as Catch Up Day wraps up, Epic Games is expected to introduce another wave of sprites and variants, giving collectors even more reasons to jump back into Fortnite Runners.
