Apple and LG reportedly codeveloped seven smart home devices, with LG handling production and support. Bloomberg says the accessories may arrive in a few months.

Apple and LG have reportedly worked together on seven smart home devices, including a doorbell, thermostat, smart lock, and security cameras. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the products will carry the LG brand, with LG handling manufacturing and product support while Apple helps shape their design and features.

Apple has not confirmed the partnership or the products. If the report is accurate, the lineup would give Apple a faster way to expand its home ecosystem without manufacturing and supporting every accessory itself.

The reported lineup covers cameras, a lock, and climate control

Bloomberg lists an LG Video Doorbell Wired, LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, LG Smart Thermostat, LG Temperature Sensor, LG Indoor Cam Plug-In, LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In, and LG Floodlight Cam. It reports that many products will support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread, and Matter. The deadbolt reportedly includes ultra-wideband (UWB).

These names also appear in regulatory and product-certification filings LG submitted to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission and UL Solutions, according to Bloomberg. The filings do not mention Apple. Bloomberg says LG asked the agencies to keep product photos and more detailed information confidential until early 2027, so the public record offers little about final specifications.

Matter can connect compatible accessories with different smart home platforms, while Thread is a low-power mesh network for home devices. Bloomberg does not say which models support each standard or whether all seven support Matter. UWB could allow a lock to respond when an authorized device is nearby, but Apple and LG have not explained how that would work.

LG would make and support the accessories

The arrangement would leave the devices under LG’s name, even though Apple reportedly had a hand in their design, features, and engineering. LG would manufacture the products and handle support. That gives Apple a partner with an existing hardware operation for categories such as doorbells, locks, thermostats, and cameras.

Apple already works with third-party companies across its smart home platform. The reported accessories would add more hardware options around Apple’s upcoming home hub and sit alongside the HomeKit devices already available. Bloomberg says the products are designed to complement the hub, but Apple has not confirmed their exact compatibility or whether every accessory will work with Apple Home.

The accessories may arrive months after Apple’s hub

Bloomberg says Apple is expected to introduce a home hub, updated HomePod mini, and updated Apple TV on October 13, part of its reported October product wave. Apple has not announced that date or confirmed the lineup. The LG accessories are not expected to reach consumers for at least a few more months, so they are not part of an immediate rollout even if Apple’s hub appears this month.

Prices, country availability, and launch dates remain unknown. Buyers will also need confirmation of which Apple Home features each device supports, especially for video recording and smart-lock controls. For now, the partnership and device list remain reported plans rather than announced products.

Bloomberg has not reported where the cameras or doorbell would store video, whether recording needs a subscription, or how long LG will provide software support. Those details will shape how the products fit into a home already using Apple’s Home app.
