WABetaInfo spotted Liquid Glass work for WhatsApp’s drawing editor and video player on iOS. The changes are in development and would complete the app’s redesign before iOS 27.

WhatsApp’s Liquid Glass redesign still is not finished. WABetaInfo found work on two more iPhone screens: the drawing editor and the video player. The changes appeared in WhatsApp beta version 26.33.10.18, but they are still in development and not available to beta testers yet.

    What is changing

The drawing editor is the screen you see when you mark up a photo or video before sending it. Its top row of buttons for adding text, drawing, and stickers still uses the old flat style. WhatsApp is working on giving those controls the same frosted-glass look as the rest of the app.

WhatsApp is also testing the design on the video player’s progress bar at the top of the screen. Neither change alters how these screens work; they are visual updates.

The redesign is still rolling out

WhatsApp started rolling out Liquid Glass more broadly in May after months of limited testing. Since then, the chat list, Updates tab, sidebar, reactions, context menus, voice message player, and chat interface have all moved to the new look. The iPad app followed in June, and Meta has been readying Liquid Glass for the Mac app since before its July rollout.

The rollout has been slow enough that some iPhone users still do not have the redesign. These two screens are also not finished, so the visual transition is not complete yet.

There is no release timeline yet

WABetaInfo connects the work to iOS 27’s expected launch, but WhatsApp and Meta have not announced a deadline. Apple is not planning a major Liquid Glass redesign in iOS 27, but that does not confirm when WhatsApp will finish these screens.

There is no timeline yet for when the drawing editor and video player changes reach beta testers or the public app.
