Shazam Music Recognition Now Available in ChatGPT

ChatGPT can now identify songs using Apple’s Shazam music recognition technology, allowing users to detect music directly inside the AI assistant without leaving the app. The integration brings Shazam’s audio recognition system into ChatGPT and returns song results within the conversation.

Shazam now works directly inside ChatGPT

Users can start a prompt with “Shazam” or ask a request such as “Shazam, what is this song?” ChatGPT then opens a “Tap to Shazam” interface that activates the microphone and analyzes the audio using Shazam’s recognition technology.

ChatGPT returns a result card with the song title, artist name, and album artwork. A short preview of the track can be played directly in the chat. The system uses the same Shazam recognition technology available on Apple devices, but the entire process runs inside ChatGPT.

Song recognition works even if the standalone Shazam app is not installed. If the Shazam app is installed, songs identified in ChatGPT are added to the user’s Shazam library.

Setup and availability

The integration must be enabled from ChatGPT’s apps section. Users can open settings, navigate to Apps, and add Shazam. After setup, the feature can be triggered by starting a prompt with “Shazam” or invoking the Shazam tool inside ChatGPT.

The feature is rolling out globally and is available in ChatGPT on iOS, Android, and the web. ChatGPT also supports Apple Music and Spotify integrations, allowing users to generate playlists based on identified songs.
