iOS 27 beta code references all six iPhone 18 models, including the foldable

Six unreleased iPhone identifiers found in iOS 27 beta 5 battery code back up Apple’s reported split launch: three models this fall, three more in early 2027. (158 characters)

Apple’s next iPhone lineup just surfaced in Apple’s own software. Macworld found references to six unreleased iPhone models in iOS 27 beta 5, tucked inside system files that handle battery drivers and Battery Intelligence. It is the first time the full rumored 2026-2027 lineup has shown up together in a beta.

Which iPhones the identifiers point to

The code only lists identifiers, not names. The matches below come from earlier leaks and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reporting, so treat them as well-founded guesses rather than confirmations.

    IdentifierBelieved to beExpected launch
    V63iPhone 18 ProSeptember 2026
    V64iPhone 18 Pro MaxSeptember 2026
    V68iPhone Ultra (foldable)September 2026
    V67iPhone 18Early 2027
    V69iPhone 18eEarly 2027
    V62iPhone Air 2Early 2027

The identifiers do not reveal specs, designs, or prices. Their location still makes sense: iOS has to support each new phone’s power-management setup before the hardware ships, which is why unreleased models tend to leak through battery code first.

Earlier iOS 27 betas already contained references to foldable displays and dual-battery configurations that no current iPhone uses, both of which fit the foldable expected this fall. Gurman has also said much of iOS 27 itself is being built around that foldable, with features designed for its larger inner display.

The roadmap matches the split-launch reports

The six models line up with what Gurman and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo have been reporting for months: Apple plans to break the iPhone 18 generation into two waves instead of one September event. iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the foldable arrive this fall, while the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and a second-generation iPhone Air follow in spring 2027.

Apple has not confirmed any of these devices, and identifiers can shift or get shelved before launch. But Apple preparing its own operating system for six specific new phones is harder to dismiss than a supply-chain rumor. If the schedule holds, September’s event will be a Pro-and-foldable show, and anyone waiting for a cheaper iPhone 18 has about six extra months to sit out.
