iOS 10.2 has got an important feature called “Emergency SOS.” If you have used watchOS 3, you may be aware of it.

Emergency SOS lets you call emergency services in your region when you press the Sleep/Wake button rapidly three times. After you have activated the Emergency SOS, the iPhone will play a warning sound; giving a three second of countdown during which you can stop the call.

Step #1. Assuming you have accidentally clicked the On/Off button of your iPhone three times and Emergency SOS has been activated.

Step #2. Tap on the Stop button (X) along the bottom of the screen.

Step #3. Tap on Stop Calling at the bottom confirm and prevent your iPhone from making an emergency call.

Concerned about triggering Emergency SOS accidentally but don’t want to disable it? There is a way to reduce the chance of activating it by mistake.

Step #1. Open Settings → General.

Step #2. Tap on Emergency SOS.

Step #3. Under Click Sleep/Wake, select Five Times.

When you quickly click the Sleep/Week button three times, your iPhone will automatically call emergency services. But, if you activate it accidentally or are concerned that kids can mess around with this feature, you can disable it.

I wish you never have to face such unfortunate circumstances. Your iPhone will play warning sound while Emergency SOS is counting down to call emergency services. But, if you dislike this warning sound, you can turn it off Emergency SOS countdown.

Step #1. Launch Settings app on your iPhone → Tap on General.
