Whether you share your vacation photo dump or express your mood, you can use Facebook stories to keep your feed clutter-free. However, your precious moments deserve to be shared with only your special ones. No worries! Here, I will share how to hide stories on Facebook and manage access to your Facebook stories from your iPhone or iPad.

How to hide Facebook stories from someone on iPhone or iPad

There are three easy workarounds to restrict visibility to your Facebook story from your friends.

Method 1: From Facebook Settings 

  1. Launch the Facebook app.  
  2. Tap the hamburger menu.  
  3. Move down to Settings & Privacy → Select Settings. 
  4. Choose Stories from the Audience and visibility section. 

    Open facebook, select hamburger icon, go to settings under settings & privacy, tap stories
  5. Tap Story privacy → Select Hide story from.
  6. Add the names of your friends and pages from whom you want to hide your stories.  

    Select story privacy, go to hide story from, add account names

Alternately: 

  1. Select Create story on the Facebook Home page.  
  2. Move to the Settings icon. 

    Go to settings, choose hide story from, select done
  3. Go to Hide story from.
  4. Select your friends’ accounts to which you don’t want to show your story. 
  5. Tap Done.

Method 2: While uploading story

  1. Go to Facebook → Tap Create story. 
    You can add pictures from the Photos gallery or capture a new one.  
  2. Hit the Privacy icon.  
  3. Choose Hide story from option → Tap the names you want to hide your new story from.  
  4. Lastly, select Done.

Method 3: Hide story after uploading it

  1. Open your Facebook story. 
  2. Tap on the three-dot icon → Select Edit Story Privacy.

  3. Hit Hide story from → Tap the account names you don’t want to show your story.  
  4. Choose Done.

    Go to hide story from, select accounts, tap done

If you don’t wish to completely avoid your friends forever, I have a solution for you. You should consider taking a break from your Facebook friends. It’s an unharmful way to do what you like without being bothered about who’s watching!

How to customize access to the Facebook story on iPhone

  1. Go to Create Story on your Facebook Home page.  
  2. Hit the Settings icon → Choose Custom. 
  3. Add friends with whom you want to share your Facebook stories.  
  4. Tap Choose (number of friends added) Friends.

Alternately: 

  1. Open the hamburger menu on the Home page.  
  2. Move to Settings under Settings & Privacy → Go to Stories.  
  3. Tap the drop-down icon placed against Story privacy.  
  4. Choose Specific friends. 
    Here, add only those friends with whom you want to show your stories.  
  5. Hit Done → Confirm through Save.

How to unhide a Facebook story from someone on iPhone or iPad

  1. Select Create story on your Facebook Home page.  
  2. Go to the Settings icon → Move to Hide Story from. 
  3. Uncheck the Facebook account/s you want to unhide your upcoming stories from.  
  4. Tap Done.

    Open settings, go to hide story from, uncheck accounts, select done

How to mute someone’s Facebook story

  1. Open the Facebook app. 
  2. Tap on the story of the person you want to mute. 
    Alternatively, you can visit the Facebook user’s profile and open their story. 
  3. Select the three-dot icon in the top-right corner. 
  4. Choose the Mute (username) story option from the pop-up menu. 
  5. Confirm by selecting Mute.

Unmute the Facebook story of your followers 

  1. Open the hamburger menu. 
  2. Go to Settings under Settings & Privacy → Tap Stories.
  3. Select View next to the Stories you’ve muted option.  
  4. Hit Unmute for the accounts you want to view stories of.

    Open settings, select stories, choose view, tap unmute

Alternately: 

  1. Tap Create Story → Open Settings. 
  2. Go to the Stories you’ve muted option.  
  3. Choose Unmute next to the account name of your Facebook friend or page.

FAQs

What happens to current Facebook Stories after changes? 

Unfortunately, your present Facebook stories will not change after the privacy alterations. To view changes, you must delete the story and post it again.  

Will my posts be visible to hidden users? 

Yes, your hidden users will be able to view your new posts.  

Will my followers get notified when I hide Facebook stories from them? 

No, your friends will not be notified when you hide your stories from them.
