Stalkboxes are back for Fortnitemares 2026, but only on Nitemare Island in Reload. Here’s what they do, where to look for them, and the quest they complete.

Since their introduction in October 2025, Stalkboxes are starting to become a Fortnitemares staple and have proven useful for getting your hands on the Last Call mythic item. While they were more prominent in last year’s Halloween-themed event, this year they have been limited to a single map in Fortnite Reload: Nitemare Island.

Despite not being as prevalent in the game as last year, Stalkboxes are still an unskippable part of the “Reload: Nitemare Two” set of quests in Fortnite Reload. With that said, you can read more about what a Stalkbox does, where you can find one, and how you can tell if one’s nearby.

What does a Stalkbox do in Fortnite?

A Stalkbox is a telephone booth-like kiosk that your player character can use to acquire the Scream-inspired Last Call mythic item. This particular item is a weapon-cum-tracker of sorts, as it helps you mark nearby enemies for a brief period and slash through them using Ghost Face’s knife.

Notably, your appearance also changes into that of the iconic Scream antagonist whenever you switch to this item.

Besides giving you a gameplay advantage, using a Stalkbox also ticks off the “Pick up the phone at a Stalkbox” quest, which rewards you with 15,000 XP. Moreover, it counts towards the 26 Fortnitemares quests you must complete to unlock the Jack-A-Nape skin.

Where to find a Stalkbox in Fortnite?

Last year, Fortnite maps across different modes, including Battle Royale, were littered with Stalkboxes, and it was easy to find one. However, in Fortnitemares 2026, they are restricted to Nitemare Island in Fortnite Reload.

Since this mode features a map rotation that happens roughly every 20 minutes, and because there are three different Reload maps in the loop currently (Nitemare Island, Squid Grounds and Stranger Things), you may have to wait for some time before you can start your search for a Stalkbox.

Also note that the Nitemare Two quests stay locked until you complete at least one Reload: Nitemare One quest.

How to find Stalkboxes in Fortnite Reload’s Nitemare Island

This year, Stalkboxes seem to be spawning randomly on Nitemare Island, so there are no fixed locations where you can find them. But there are certain named POIs where they have been spotted more often, and there are certain cues you must pay attention to so you don’t miss a Stalkbox when it’s nearby.

Some of the recommended locations for encountering a Stalkbox are Terror Turrets, Retail Ruin, and Punishment Patch. More or less, these booths generally appear in denser areas such as residential neighborhoods instead of open spaces. Regardless of which POI you are in, if you are close to a Stalkbox, you will hear a loud phone-ringing sound, and the booth also has a flashing light. You can use that as an audio guide to close in on your target.

Rounding up

Even though Stalkboxes did return in Fortnitemares for a second consecutive year, this time they haven’t been incorporated into the game as much as last time. That’s mainly because their main purpose, which is to give the player the Last Call item, was made redundant by that very mythic weapon becoming a Loot Hack instead, a novel feature that didn’t exist when Stalkboxes and Last Call were first released.

Nevertheless, including Stalkboxes in one of the Fortnitemares quests was the devs’ move to keep the ominous-looking kiosk relevant, even if only by a bit. Keep in mind that the quest has to be completed before Fortnitemares ends on November 1. It will be interesting to see if this continues to be the case or if Stalkboxes return to their former glory next October, with Fortnitemares 2027.
