    After weeks of anticipation and leaks, the Fortnite x Sonic The Hedgehog collab for Fortnite’s Chapter 7 Season 4 has been confirmed via the latter franchise’s official social media accounts. The forthcoming season, titled Fortnite Override, is scheduled to roll out on August 20, 2026.

    For a considerable time, video game collabs have been expected to feature heavily in the new Fortnite season. With the official tease coming from Sega, at least one such partnership has now been set in stone. Apart from fresh gaming content coming to Fortnite, hacking has also been expected to arrive and play a key role after the mid-month update.

    On August 10, Sega uploaded a teaser video that gave fans a glimpse of Sonic in a map location inspired by Green Hill. The clip shows the blue hedgehog sprinting on a hooped track, collecting the iconic gold rings synonymous with the long-running Sega-owned franchise.

    There is also a shot of Fortnite character Peely sprinting similarly, which could be a hint at a Sonic The Hedgehog-themed item that grants super speed. Further, certain eagle-eyed fans also spotted how the clouds shown in the video resemble Tetris blocks, adding to the speculation of a collab with the namesake game franchise.

    Notably, the first few seconds of the clip show a terminal screen with a cascade of commands. This, coupled with the title of the video, which says “HACKING Now”, is yet another strong indicator of hacking being incorporated as an aspect of Fortnite Override. On the online game’s Discord, an entire channel is dedicated to something called “Lobby Hack codes”, the purpose of which should become clearer when the forthcoming update drops.

    Over the past few weeks, a bunch of Fortnite game collabs were reported to be in the pipeline. Given that Fortnite Override is shaping up as a season that significantly focuses on video game characters and locations, it is reasonable to think these leaked partnerships are slated to release as part of the new seasonal content. The following games and items are among those expected to land, per popular leakers such as Shiina, HYPEX, and FireMonkey.

More specifically, it has been confirmed by Epic Games that Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 will also feature its own set of sprites.

    However, that doesn’t mean you will be able to use your existing collection of sprites for playing matches in the next season. That’s because those will be restricted to a new island called Sprite Garden, preventing them from being used in other modes such as Battle Royale. Instead, you will be able to catch new sprites and use them in Fortnite Override.

    Given the sheer variety of sprites in Fortnite’s ongoing season, the forthcoming one undoubtedly offers great promise. While fan-made sprites such as the ammunition-granting Bullet Sprite have already been confirmed to launch next season, others made by Fortnite devs can be expected to refresh the lineup throughout the season, similar to how it is right now.
