Google Chrome for iOS now lets enterprise users securely switch between personal and work accounts, enhancing privacy and admin control.
Google has rolled out a significant update to its Chrome browser for iPhone and iPad users, specifically targeting enterprise accounts. Due to the BYOD policy adopted by many organizations, these users constantly had to juggle personal and company-managed Google accounts in the Chrome browser on their iPhones. This new update aims to simplify the user experience while still maintaining data security and visibility for IT administrators as the top priority.
Chrome users on iPhone and iPad can now easily switch between their personal and corporate-managed accounts. Chrome says that all enterprise data remains strictly tied to the managed account, and personal data remains tied exclusively to the user’s account. This separation gives employees peace of mind when handling sensitive company data.
Most importantly, the new feature is exclusively for users switching between personal and enterprise accounts, and does not support switching between two personal accounts.
To ensure users don’t get confused about which account they are using, Chrome displays a clear notification and an onboarding screen each time a user switches from personal to managed accounts. Users are reminded when they’re working in a managed environment, reinforcing the separation and corporate oversight applied to enterprise accounts.
The latest update also extends Chrome Enterprise reporting capabilities to iOS. Enterprises can now send key security event data from iPhones and iPads directly to the Google Admin console or Chrome logs. This empowers IT teams to investigate incidents and monitor mobile device activity with improved granularity.
Chrome on iOS now supports URL filtering for managed accounts. Businesses can restrict employee access to unauthorized or risky websites—a critical upgrade for organizations concerned about security and regulatory compliance on mobile endpoints.
Google’s latest additions to the Chrome browser for iOS mark a significant step forward for organizations that support flexible workplace models. Employees benefit from privacy in personal browsing, while companies retain control and visibility over work data.
