Apple is facing a class-action lawsuit in a U.S. federal court over the delayed rollout of its Apple Intelligence features. The lawsuit, filed by Clarkson Law Firm in the U.S. District Court in San Jose, accuses Apple of false advertising and misleading customers about the availability of its AI-powered features.

According to reports, the suit seeks class-action status and damages on behalf of customers who purchased iPhones and other Apple devices expecting Apple Intelligence features—features that are still missing months after launch.

The lawsuit states, “Apple’s advertisements saturated the internet, television, and other airwaves to cultivate a clear and reasonable consumer expectation that these transformative features would be available upon the iPhone’s release.” The filing claims Apple used this hype to drive excitement and convince customers to upgrade at premium prices.

It further alleges that devices advertised with Apple Intelligence capabilities came with limited or completely absent features. As a result, customers were misled into believing they were buying AI-powered products, while in reality, those features were either not available or falsely advertised.

The suit also notes that Apple recently removed one such advertisement from YouTube. However, they’ve “failed to retract all the similarly false representations in the market that began in the summer of 2024, much less take any action that would adequately remedy the consumers harmed by the company’s widespread deception.”

Earlier this month, Apple announced that the planned upgrades to Siri would be delayed until 2026. The company has struggled to keep up with rolling out AI features, while several competitors have already integrated similar tools into their devices.

Apple has not responded to the lawsuit yet. Please let us know what you think in the comments below.
