iOS 26 Code Leak Hints at Apple’s Smart Home Hub With Face ID
Leaked iOS 26 code reveals Apple’s smart home hub with Face ID, a redesigned Siri, and personalized home control at its core.

Apple’s long-discussed smart home hub has resurfaced in leaked iOS 26 code. According to Macworld, an internal iOS 26 build references several upcoming Apple products, including a smart home hub that is clearly centered on the next evolution of Siri.
The leak suggests Apple is building this device as a central smart home controller, not just another smart display.
Built Around the New Siri and Apple Intelligence
The iOS 26 code indicates that Apple’s smart home hub will rely heavily on a revamped version of Siri expected next year. This new Siri is closely tied to Apple Intelligence and is designed to handle more advanced voice commands, personalized actions, and deeper home automation.
Unlike a basic HomePod with a screen, the hub is expected to adapt responses based on user context and who is interacting with it.
Face ID, Camera, and Profile Switching
One of the key details in the leak is support for Face ID. The device is said to include a built-in camera limited to 1080p resolution, suggesting the focus is on user recognition rather than video quality.
With Face ID, the hub can identify who is in front of it and switch profiles automatically. Macworld reports that Apple engineers are testing this system internally using a dedicated app to verify accuracy in shared spaces. This would allow the hub to show personalized reminders, calendars, music preferences, or HomeKit controls for each person in the household.
A Hybrid Device With a Targeted Launch Window
Macworld notes that the smart home hub is expected to sit somewhere between an iPad and a HomePod in both design and purpose. Rumors point to a square display measuring around seven inches, along with support for an optional speaker base.
Apple is reportedly aligning the launch of this device with the release of the upgraded Siri experience in iOS 26.4. Based on Apple’s usual update schedule, this suggests a launch window around March or April, pointing to a coordinated hardware and software rollout.
iOS 26 Code Also Hints at a New Home Security Accessory
The same internal iOS 26 build also references another unreleased product labeled J229. This device is described as an accessory rather than a standalone product and appears to include sensors capable of detecting alarm sounds and capturing images.
This lines up with ongoing reports that Apple is working on a home security camera designed to work alongside the smart home hub. There is currently no information on when this accessory might launch.
