Marine navigation app Savvy Navvy has launched support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and select 2027 Crest and Balise pontoons will put it at the helm.
What boaters get on the display
Savvy Navvy calls this the first marine navigation app to run on CarPlay and Android Auto. It brings 2D and 3D marine charts, smart routing, saved markers, shallow-zone data, nearby boat traffic, and live location sharing to a compatible helm display.
Boaters can plan a route in the Savvy Navvy phone app and have it waiting on the boat display when they connect. Routes changed at the helm also appear in the app. Downloaded charts work offline, while the connection can be wired or wireless depending on the phone and display.
Which boats will include it?
MasterCraft Boat Holdings says the app will be standard on all new 2027 Balise pontoons and Crest Conquest and Caribbean models.
Eligible Crest boats include one month of Savvy Navvy Premium, while Balise buyers get a year. After that, using Savvy Navvy in CarPlay requires Premium or Premium+ in the US and the Elite plan elsewhere.
Existing boat owners do not need a new pontoon. Savvy Navvy says the app is available worldwide now and works with compatible aftermarket marine head units.
This is not CarPlay Ultra
Despite the factory integration, this is not CarPlay Ultra, which can span multiple screens and work with a vehicle’s gauges and controls. Savvy Navvy runs as a third-party navigation app in standard CarPlay, a category Apple already supports on its Dashboard. The regular platform is also gaining new navigation and voice-control tools in iOS 27.
In other words, Apple is not replacing the boat’s instruments. CarPlay is giving boaters a familiar screen for marine routes, music, and calls at the helm.
