WhatsApp may soon let iPhone users add a third account

WhatsApp may let iPhone users add a third account alongside their existing two. The option is still under development and not available to beta testers yet.

WhatsApp is preparing to raise the iPhone’s in-app account limit from two to three, according to WABetaInfo’s September 15 report. The feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta for iOS 26.37.10.15, but it is still under development and is not available to beta testers yet.

The change would build on WhatsApp’s recent two-account rollout for iPhone. Meta’s March announcement gave iPhone users a way to keep work and personal numbers in the same app without logging out or carrying two phones.

The third account would use the same account list

WABetaInfo says users would see an "Add account" option even after two profiles are already active. The third number could be added from the account list in Settings or through the Switch accounts option.

Each account would keep its own chat history, notifications, privacy settings, backup, and media. App Lock would also work separately for each profile, so securing one account would not automatically change the others. The account selector would continue to show a profile name, photo, and phone number, with a checkmark beside the active account.

Three accounts would help people with three phone numbers

Two slots cover the usual work-and-personal setup. A third slot could help people who keep a separate number for a business, side project, family, or another role. It could also reduce the need to use WhatsApp Business as a workaround or keep a second phone nearby.

The idea follows WhatsApp’s move to two accounts on one iPhone. If you need the current two-account setup, our updated guide to using two WhatsApp accounts on iPhone covers the available options.

The third account is not available yet

WABetaInfo says the feature was found in the 26.37.10.15 beta, but the three-account option itself is not ready for testing. Installing that build will not guarantee access, and WhatsApp has not shared a public release timeline.

For now, iPhone users can officially manage up to two accounts inside WhatsApp. The third slot is a planned expansion, not a feature you can turn on today.
