Pitaka MagCase – Military-grade Slim Case for iPhone X

Written By Dhvanesh Reviewed By Accessories 6 Min Read

Even though I want my iPhone X to have the essential shield to ward off any unwanted damage, I’m always hesitant to go for absolute protection at the cost of style. Most durable cases fail to get along nicely with the elegance of the smartphone, while very few thin cases are able to bear the rigorous test of time.

Pitaka’s neatly crafted MagCase for iPhone X has tried to find a perfect match between slimness and protection. Has it succeeded in living up to the mark on both the aspects? Read on to find out whether it’s designed to meet your specific demand.

Pitaka MagCase for iPhone X

I’ve been using this case for the past few days. Having given a thorough look at what it has to offer, I’m set to present the detailed review.

The Sleek Profile That Wraps Around Seamlessly

MagCase sports a pretty sleek profile that wraps around snuggly on the iPhone X. With just 0.65mm thickness and 14g weight, it’s certainly one of the slimmest cases in the market. The low-profile design seems to complement its overall look.

The precise cutouts offer hassle-free access to volume rockers, side button and charging port. Therefore, you can comfortably use the physical buttons and charge your device.

Enhanced Grip (3D Grippy Skin)

The one quality that I always want to have in my iPhone case is the non-slippery exterior. It just makes it a bit more convenient to hold the device and reduces the chance of the unwanted slip-up.

Featuring 3D grippy skin, the slim case feels pretty comfy in the palm. Thanks to the enhanced gripping, you won’t feel slippery when holding the iPhone in your hands. For the folks who have butterfingers, this case can be worth giving a close look.

Carved Out of Bulletproof Material

One of the biggest highlights of this case is the built quality. The company claims that it’s the thinnest phone case made from bullet-proof materials.

And, the secret behind its high durability is the top-grade aramid fiber. Considered to be extremely strong, aramid is used in aerospace and military applications. You can also find this material being widely used in body armor and racing vehicles.

Pitaka Wireless Charging Compatible iPhone X Case

Due mainly to the impact resistant material, you can trust it to shield your iPhone against minor accidental falls. It may look quite slim but it’s got enough strength to last long.

Unfortunately, there is no raised lip to safeguard the edge-to-edge display. That means the case won’t prevent the touchscreen from sliding when the iPhone is placed face down.

To ensure this doesn’t become a deal breaker for many, the company offers a top quality tempered glass screen protector. Boasting 9H hardness, the screen guard can defend the touchscreen even against the sharpness of a knife. As for clarity and responsiveness, it’s up to the mark.

There is a beveled edge for the dual-camera to keep it protected from scrape. And, I think it’s pretty on point when it comes to living up to the task.

Magnetic Car Mount Support

Whenever I’m heading to unknown places, I prefer to use a navigation app like Google Maps to reach the destination. That’s when a car mount comes handy in securely holding the device for hands-free use.

With the embedded metal plates, the case works seamlessly with magnetic car mounts. So, you can easily place the device on a compatible car mount to navigate more conveniently on the drive.

Wireless Charging Compatible

Wireless charging compatibility helps it tick almost all the boxes. You won’t need to remove the case before dropping your iPhone on a wireless charger to power it up.

Magnetic plates have been put accurately to ensure it doesn’t obstruct wireless charging. To be honest, I was slightly apprehensive about it. However, when I put the case to the test, it managed to get the work done normally.

The Verdict

Now comes the most crucial part! MagCase has come off really well on most aspects. Three features have stood out for me: the slender one-piece design, military-grade material, and hidden metal plates. These qualities make it stand out from the rest.

I would have loved to see a couple of things in this thin case. First, elevated edge to offer an additional layer of safeguard for the screen. The second, slightly more protection at the top and bottom. It’s to ensure the device doesn’t get exposed to nasty bumps when fallen straight.

As for price ($49.99), I think it’s on point. I would have put it in the expensive category, had there been no screen protector.

Overall, it’s a fairly good deal for the folks who wish to have a top-notch slim case without compromising much on protection.
