MacBook Neo: Price, Specs, Features, and Everything You Need to Know
Apple’s new MacBook Neo aims to deliver a powerful yet affordable Mac experience. Here’s everything you need to know about its price, specs, features, and what makes this $599 Mac stand out.

Apple has officially introduced the MacBook Neo, a new entry-level laptop designed to make the Mac ecosystem more accessible to students and first-time users. At a starting price of $599, it’s now the most affordable MacBook Apple has ever released.
MacBook Neo Runs on the A18 Pro Chip
Unlike the rest of Apple’s Mac lineup, the MacBook Neo is powered by the A18 Pro chip, marking the first time Apple has shipped a Mac running an iPhone-class processor instead of an M-series chip.
Despite the shift, Apple promises smooth performance for everyday tasks such as browsing, streaming, note-taking, and light productivity.
The chip is optimized for common tasks like web browsing, document editing, video playback, and running lightweight apps. For students and casual users, it should provide more than enough power for daily computing needs.
Lightweight Design with Colorful Options
Apple is positioning the MacBook Neo as a fun and approachable Mac.
The laptop comes in four vibrant color options:
- Silver
- Indigo
- Blush
- Citrus
The design remains thin and lightweight, making it easy to carry to classes, offices, or coffee shops.
Display, Ports, and Hardware
Even though it is Apple’s most affordable MacBook, the Neo still includes several familiar Mac features. The laptop includes:
- 13-inch Liquid Retina no-notch display
- Two USB-C ports
- MagSafe charging
- A headphone jack
- A 1080p FaceTime camera
- Support for Dolby Atmos spatial audio
These additions make it suitable for video calls, entertainment, and everyday productivity.
Up to 16 Hours of Battery Life
Apple claims the MacBook Neo can deliver up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge. That puts it close to other modern MacBooks and should easily last through a full day of classes or work.
MacBook Neo Price and Availability
The MacBook Neo starts at $599 with 256GB of storage. A higher-tier configuration priced at $699 offers 512GB of storage and Touch ID.
Apple is also offering education pricing starting at $499, making it one of the most affordable ways to get a Mac.
With this launch, Apple now offers a clearer Mac lineup for different users:
- MacBook Neo for students and casual users
- MacBook Air with the M5 chip for everyday performance
- MacBook Pro models for professional workloads
Apple’s New Entry Point to macOS
The MacBook Neo fills a gap that had been growing in Apple’s laptop lineup. As MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models grew more powerful and expensive, Apple lacked a true budget Mac.
By introducing a $599 MacBook, Apple aims to compete more directly with Chromebooks and budget Windows laptops while bringing more users into the macOS ecosystem.
