Apple may be preparing a new 24-inch iMac with an M6 chip and a refreshed color lineup before the end of 2026. The report comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter.
Apple has not confirmed the computer. Gurman also does not name the new shades or give a specific launch date, so this remains an early product report rather than a product announcement.
What the report says
The rumored update would move the iMac directly from the current M4 generation to M6. Gurman expects the new models to arrive before the end of the year, but there is no word on pricing, memory, storage, or the exact M6 configuration.
The report points to a familiar 24-inch all-in-one rather than a major redesign. If that detail holds, the update would focus on the chip and colors. A comparison of the M3 and M1 iMac documented the same 24-inch 4.5K design carrying across those generations.
Apple’s current iMac specifications list seven M4 colors: blue, purple, pink, orange, yellow, green, and silver. Gurman has not said whether Apple plans to add shades, replace some of these colors, or simply adjust the palette.
OLED iMac is still a separate story
Apple is also rumored to be working on a 24-inch iMac with an OLED display, but that model is not expected soon. Earlier OLED iMac reports point to a much later launch window, so buyers should not expect the rumored M6 refresh to bring a new screen technology.
For now, the M6 iMac is a reported 2026 update with new colors and no confirmed launch date. Apple will need to announce the machine before any of those details become official.
