Apple’s first foldable iPhone may have a name, a starting price, and a launch window. In a late post on X, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple plans to call the device iPhone Duo, with a $2,000 starting price for 256GB of storage.

The report says higher-capacity versions could reach roughly $3,000. Apple has not confirmed the phone, its name, or any of these prices.

iPhone Duo could start with 256GB

The reported $2,000 price would apply to the entry-level model. Gurman says storage could go as high as 2TB, pushing the most expensive version to around $3,000. Apple is reportedly absorbing some of the extra memory cost to keep the base model near the $2,000 mark while passing more of that cost to buyers who want additional storage.

That would still make the iPhone Duo one of Apple’s most expensive mainstream products. Earlier reports had placed the foldable above $2,000, with some estimates reaching $2,500 before the latest pricing detail.

The foldable may arrive after the iPhone 18 Pro

Gurman says the iPhone Duo could go on sale as early as October, rather than launching alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple is expected to unveil its fall iPhone lineup at the September 9 “Surprise and shine” event, but the company has not named the foldable on its event page.

The delayed sale date would give Apple more time to prepare a new foldable product category. Previous reports have also pointed to production challenges, although Apple has not explained a launch schedule.

    Other reported iPhone Duo details

The same report points to a new A20 Pro chip, Apple’s C2 modem, dual 48-megapixel rear cameras, a 12-megapixel front camera, a magnetic hinge, and Apple Pencil support. The phone may come in white and dark blue.

Those details remain unconfirmed, but the name is now more credible than the “iPhone Ultra” label used in earlier reports. People who reportedly handled Apple’s foldable liked its pocketable design and larger-screen software, as described in earlier foldable iPhone coverage. Apple’s broader foldable iPhone guide collects the older design and display rumors, but it does not make them official.

Apple’s September event may settle the product name and core specifications. Until then, the $2,000 starting price and October availability are still reported details, not confirmed Apple specifications.
