The next-generation iPad Pro, equipped with the M5 chip, will include two front-facing cameras.
A brand-new iPad Pro lineup with the M5 chip is just around the corner, aimed at improving the user experience—particularly for video calls and photography—while also delivering a performance boost. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is looking to address long-standing orientation issues while delivering boosted performance with the forthcoming model.
In the latest edition of his PowerOn newsletter, Mark Gurman revealed that the next-generation iPad Pro, equipped with the M5 chip, will include two front-facing cameras. The new dual front-facing camera design includes both a portrait and a landscape camera, allowing seamless photo capture and video conferencing regardless of how the device is held. The current M4-powered iPad Pro models, launched in May 2024, feature a single front-facing camera optimized for landscape use.
While Face ID—even on the current-generation model—already supports both orientations, the addition of a dedicated portrait camera will add convenience for users who frequently switch between portrait and landscape modes.
As Apple largely upgraded the iPad Pro last year with an OLED display and a slimmer profile, the 2025 iPad Pro is expected to receive only iterative enhancements. One of the most significant iterative enhancements is the addition of a brand-new M5 chip, promising advancements in processing power and efficiency.
Although there are no recent updates on the production details or release timeline, Ming-Chi Kuo reported last year that the 2025 iPad Pro would enter production in the second half of 2025. However, given Apple’s typical 18-month update cycle for the iPad Pro, a September or October release appears likely, potentially aligning with the company’s fall event schedule.
