Apple’s French regulatory website has a listing for an unreleased iPad mini Smart Folio case, according to MacRumors, which reported it on October 15. The case carries model number A3632. MacRumors says that number matches no current or past iPad mini case. The listing sits alongside iPhone 18 Pro accessories that Apple added in September, and it has no specs, price, or launch date. Apple has not announced a new iPad mini.
A new case number may mean a new design
Apple’s current iPad mini Smart Folio is sold for the A17 Pro model. MacRumors reads the new number as a sign of a redesign that could make today’s iPad mini cases incompatible. Nothing in the listing confirms the fit, so that question stays open until Apple shows the device.
The OLED link comes from reporting, not the listing
MacRumors says the case could be for the OLED iPad mini that Bloomberg has reported. The listing itself does not mention a display. Today’s 8.3-inch mini uses an LCD panel, and OLED screens can show deeper blacks and higher contrast. MacRumors also lists a more water-resistant design among the rumored details. Earlier, MacRumors matched code identifiers in macOS 26.7 to the same OLED model. Neither piece confirms the screen.
Price and timing come from Bloomberg’s earlier reports
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has said the OLED model will cost considerably more than today’s mini, possibly close to $799. Apple has not set a price for the new model. Apple’s current model starts at $599 for the 128GB Wi-Fi version, after a price increase earlier this year moved it up from $499. At $799, the mini would sit $50 above the 11-inch iPad Air, which starts at $749.
Bloomberg has pointed to a launch on or around October 27, the same window it gives for OLED MacBook Pro models. Before Bloomberg’s October 8 report, MacRumors had called the mini’s timing unclear and placed it in neither of Apple’s two reported October launch waves. Apple’s October 13 press release introduced HomeView, a 7-inch smart home display priced at $299 in the U.S. with sales starting November 13. It did not mention an iPad mini.
What to do if you need a case or a mini now
The current iPad mini starts at $599. Apple’s newsroom and store pages will show the model name, price, and any compatible cases once it announces the device. If you are buying a case for a future mini, wait for that listing, since a changed design could change which cases fit.
