Add us on

It’s hard to believe, but Grand Theft Auto 6 is now just a few weeks away from launch. After years of delays, rumors, and endless speculation, Rockstar Games is preparing to take us back to Vice City on November 19, 2026. Pre-orders are already live for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Although GTA 6 is launching on both consoles, PlayStation has highlighted several features designed to make the experience more immersive on PS5. These include the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, which respond to the action as Jason and Lucia explore Leonida.

So, what advantages can you expect if you’re playing GTA 6 on a PS5 or PS5 Pro? And are any of these features genuinely exclusive to Sony’s console? Here’s everything we know so far.

Are these GTA 6 features actually PS5 exclusive?

Rockstar’s marketing might make you think PS5 players will get access to features that Xbox Series X/S users won’t be able to experience. However, that’s not entirely true. The thing to note here is that Sony has a marketing deal with Rockstar, which explains why PlayStation branding is all over GTA 6 trailers, and why the game is being promoted as playing best on PS5. It’s a way for Sony to associate its brand with one of the biggest game releases in history.

However, the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GTA 6 are all set to bring the same gameplay experience. The real difference comes in how the game uses the PS5’s DualSense controller. Features such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers simply aren’t present on Xbox controllers. The game plans to use these features to make Jason and Lucia’s journey feel more immersive. The PS5 Pro should also deliver a better experience compared to the base consoles, as it packs more powerful hardware.

We’ve already covered all the GTA 6 PS5 features you need to know about in the table above. Now, let’s take a closer look at each feature and explain how it could enhance your overall gameplay experience on Sony’s console.

1. Tempest 3D audio

Rockstar Games has gone out of its way with GTA 6’s audio design, from its soundtrack featuring the likes of Travis Scott, Keith Richards, and PinkPantheress to environmental sounds that bring Leonida to life. On PS5, players will be able to take advantage of Sony’s Tempest 3D AudioTech for a more immersive sound experience. It can make in-game audio feel more realistic and spatial, making the world feel even more alive.

2. SSD loading

If there’s one thing GTA 5 players have dealt with for years, it’s loading screens. Thankfully, the PS5’s high-speed SSD should make this less of an issue in GTA 6. The console’s storage technology allows game data to load much faster, which reduces the time players spend waiting to get back into the action. PlayStation has described it as “near-instant load times”, which should make moving around Leonida and completing missions feel like a breeze.

3. Adaptive triggers

The DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers are designed to make in-game actions feel different depending on what’s happening on screen. In GTA 6, this could make activities like driving and shooting feel more realistic. You will feel changes in trigger resistance when firing weapons, or different levels of tension during intense encounters. These small details can make the game feel even more engaging.

4. Haptic feedback

PS5’s haptic feedback will be a game-changer in GTA 6. You will feel the impact of explosions, the fumble of a vehicle, and even the sensation of parachuting through the air. Even smaller interactions will produce vibrations and add another layer of immersion as you explore Leonida.

5. Integrated speaker

Another feature that GTA 6 plans to use is the DualSense’s integrated speaker. Combined with haptics, it could make certain moments feel more immediate by letting you hear and feel part of the action through the controller itself. We’ll have to wait for more gameplay details to learn exactly how this plays out.

Is GTA 6 PS5 Pro Enhanced? What we know

Over on the PlayStation Store, GTA 6 has been listed as PS5 Pro Enhanced. This means that the game can make use of the hardware capabilities of Sony’s most powerful console. Unfortunately, the listing doesn’t exactly tell us what these improvements will look like.

We don’t know whether PS5 Pro owners will get higher frame rates or improvements to certain aspects of the game. One of the biggest unanswered questions is whether GTA 6 will offer a dedicated 60 FPS mode on the console. Until Rockstar shares more information about the game’s performance, it’s too early to say how much of an advantage the PS5 Pro will have over the standard console.

Will GTA 6 run at 60 FPS on PS5?

While the PS5 Pro should bring some improvements over the standard PS5, it’s still unclear whether either console will be able to run GTA 6 at 60 FPS. Rockstar Games hasn’t confirmed a 60 FPS mode for the PS5, PS5 Pro, or even Xbox Series X/S.

According to YouTuber Davy Jones, who had the opportunity to visit Rockstar North and chat with the game’s co-director Rob Nelson, GTA 6 is targeting 30 FPS at launch. However, Nelson said he would need to check with his technical team on whether a 60 FPS mode could be made available at launch or later.

What’s interesting to note is that speculation about GTA 6 running at 60 FPS on the PS5 Pro picked up again in August 2026. This was when well-known insider HipHopGamer made claims about the game’s performance on the upgraded console. However, Rockstar hasn’t officially backed up these claims, so it’s better to wait for more details before drawing any conclusions.

How to set up your PS5 for GTA 6 before Nov 19

If you’re planning to jump into GTA 6 the moment it launches, here’s a list of things we recommend doing beforehand to make sure your PS5 is ready for the game:

1. Free up storage space

It’s rumored that GTA 6 could take over 200 GB of storage, based on the reported size of a development build. While Rockstar hasn’t confirmed the exact file size yet, it’s a good idea to clear some space on your PS5 before pre-loads begin on November 12. Even the boxed edition contains a download code rather than a disc, so everyone will need the space. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Open Settings on your PS5.
  2. Select Storage.
  3. Choose Console Storage to see how much space is available.
  4. Delete games or applications you no longer use if you need more room.
  5. Leave some extra space for game updates.

2. Update your PS5 system software

Before GTA 6 launches, make sure your PS5 is running the latest system software. Keeping your console updated can prevent compatibility issues and ensure you have the latest system improvements. Follow these steps to check for updates:

  1. Open Settings on your PS5
  2. Choose System, then go to System Software.
  3. Select System Software Update and Settings.
  4. Hit Update System Software and install any available updates.

Rockstar Games and Sony have something special in store for GTA fans, with limited-edition DualSense controllers inspired by GTA 6. These are available in two variants, Black and White, and feature designs inspired by Vice City’s neon-lit nightlife, palm trees, and iconic sunsets alongside the official GTA 6 branding. The Black edition is exclusive to PlayStation Direct, while the White edition is also sold through other retailers.

Of course, they still come with all the usual DualSense features, including the likes of haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchpad. Priced at $84.99, these controllers launch on November 19 and are produced in limited quantities, so be quick to get one before they’re gone.

GTA 6 PS5 price and editions

GTA 6 comes in two editions: Standard and Ultimate, each offering a different set of in-game bonuses. If you’re wondering which version to buy, we’ve put together a breakdown of all GTA 6 versions to help you make the right call. However, if you want a quick overview, here’s what you can expect from each version:

EditonUS PriceWhat’s Included
Standard Edition$79.99Base game, plus the Vintage Vice City Pack (pre-order bonus) and one month of GTA+ (digital pre-orders)
Ultimate Edition$99.99Base game and Ultimate Edition Upgrade, plus the Vintage Vice City Pack (pre-order bonus) and one month of GTA+ (digital pre-orders)

Wrapping up

GTA 6 is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of the year, and PS5 players have a confirmed advantage in how the game uses the DualSense controller. Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are designed to make the action feel more immersive, while the PS5 Pro listing confirms that the game is enhanced for Sony’s more powerful console.

However, not every feature associated with PS5 is exclusive to it. Both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S use SSD storage, and Rockstar hasn’t confirmed that PlayStation players will receive exclusive story content. We also don’t yet know whether either PS5 model will offer a 60 FPS mode at launch.

With the November 19 release date approaching, more technical details may emerge. Until then, keep your console updated, make room for the installation, and check official announcements for confirmed performance specifications.
