There are now fewer than 100 days until GTA 6’s release, but one question that many in the community continue to ask is: Will GTA 6 have a first-person mode? With this highly anticipated entry, developer Rockstar Games is taking players to the stunning state of Leonida, and a first-person perspective will undoubtedly be the most immersive way to experience the world.

However, Rockstar hasn’t uttered a word about the first-person mode or shown any gameplay footage of it through the various trailer releases so far. Fortunately, a select group of YouTubers has had the opportunity to watch exclusive GTA 6 gameplay, and their experiences contain many clues as to whether the mode will be available. Let’s take a look.

Is there a first-person mode in GTA 6?

Spanish YouTuber El Rubius was among the many creators invited by Rockstar Games to Rockstar North for an exclusive look at GTA 6 gameplay. After his visit, Rubius shared many details about the gameplay footage in a YouTube video, dropping all sorts of details on how the game has evolved compared to previous entries. These included things such as dynamic world events, denser traffic, advanced vehicle crash physics, gore and dismemberment, robberies, and several other brand-new additions.

During the preview, Rubius also directly asked co-lead developer Rob Nelson whether GTA 6 will have a first-person mode. According to a translation provided by a Reddit user u/El_Pintor64, it was revealed that a first-person mode had not been implemented in the game at the time Rubius saw the game. While Rockstar hasn’t exactly confirmed that the feature won’t be available at launch, it’s likely that the game won’t debut with this particular perspective.

However, there’s always a chance that Rockstar could decide to change things in the future. Rubius speculated that a GTA 6 first-person mode could arrive alongside the PC version or the game’s eventual release on the next-generation consoles, which include the likes of PlayStation 6 and Xbox Project Helix. So, if you’re planning to pre-order GTA 6, it’s crucial to keep this detail in mind.

The last couple of weeks have been an absolute treat for the GTA 6 community in terms of news about the game, especially after such a long period of silence from Rockstar. Whether it’s through the GTA 6 leaks or the official extended look that premiered on Netflix, players now have a better idea of what the developer plans to bring to the state of Leonida. While there’s still plenty we don’t know about the game, these reveals have made one thing clear: Rockstar is pushing the level of detail in GTA 6 to a completely new level.

Just take a look at the gameplay footage, and you’ll see how Leonida is shaping up to be a dynamic world. Not only will you be able to explore the streets of Vice City, but you’ll also be able to go through highways, beaches, islands, wetlands, and tons of other environments. These areas are being filled with life, with NPCs that follow routines and react to the world around them. You can see cars with detailed interiors, visible crash damage, and deformation, and the in-game world is packed with places you can enter and explore. It’s expected that hotels, shops, clubs, houses, and other locations will feature their very own interiors.

When Rockstar is going out of its way to create a game that mimics the real world, players should have a way to experience those details right up close. A GTA 6 first-person view will allow players to view the streets of Vice City, NPC animations, buildings, cars, and even the smallest of environmental touches that might get overlooked in a third-person angle. Just going around Leonida from behind the wheel could feel like a completely unreal experience.

Rockstar already has a track record of proving that first-person mode works great in its open worlds. With GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, the developer showed how much immersion can change with a simple switch of the camera angle. There’s no reason to abandon the feature in an extremely detailed game like GTA 6.
