Google Photos is adding a redact pen and four other updates for editing, organizing, and sharing photos. The changes include film-inspired styles, new Remix templates, Wardrobe availability in India, and photo actions through Gemini Spark.
What is new in Google Photos
- Redact in Markup: Blur sensitive information before sharing an image. The upgraded tool also adds more precise thickness controls for drawings and new fonts. It is rolling out globally on Android.
- Moods: Apply styles that adapt to each image, including 35mm film and 2000s digicam looks. Moods is available globally on Android.
- Wardrobe: Google Photos can catalog the clothes in your pictures so you can browse pieces, combine them into outfits, and try on looks virtually. It is available to eligible Android and iOS users in the U.S., India, and Brazil.
- Remix: Create images with 15 new templates for red-carpet portraits, birthday cards, and photo-booth shots. These templates are available on Android and iOS in select countries to users over 18.
- Photos in Gemini Spark: Use a prompt to select, brighten, and share photos. This feature is limited to eligible Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S.
The rollout differs by feature. Android users globally are getting the new Markup tool and Moods, while Wardrobe is available in India on both Android and iOS. Remix and Gemini Spark remain limited by country, age, or subscription.
Photos also has conversational editing and AI video tools for Photos and YouTube Shorts.
